Disillusionment with the British Monarchy: My Candid Perspective I'm not a fan of the present Royal Family. The late Queen was an exceptional world leader, a stark contrast to today's figures. The Royal Family's decline seems evident with Prince Charles, and I fear it will only worsen under Prince William, who appears far from the noble image a prince should embody. Allegations of his mental abuse, adultery, and temper are concerning. I have eight siblings; we handle our disputes privately, unlike William, who publicly airs grievances like a school prefect at Eton. From reliable sources connected to their circle, I understand the feud between William and Harry is intense and one-sided. William's ascension to Prince of Wales did not sit well with me. Another Englishman lording over Wales without speaking Welsh or receiving a single vote reflects poorly on the monarchy. It's shocking that in today’s world, birthright still justifies such wealth and status. Critiques of the Duchess of Cambridge have drawn severe backlash, as if challenging royalty is blasphemous. Despite her elevated status, she comes from humble beginnings, and yet, some view any critique as a direct attack on the monarchy. My heritage includes a royal lineage dating back to 1735, yet I find no pride in a history tainted by the transgressions of my ancestors. Such titles have been ridiculed and are often associated with scams, which is why I seldom mention them. If Charles does not reconcile with Harry, it could cast a long shadow over the royal family's future. The monarchy must reevaluate its role and relevance, or it risks fading into obscurity. Watching William in the Solomon Islands, being carried like a demi-god, was inappropriate and a grim reminder of outdated colonial attitudes. It's high time for the monarchy to act decisively, either through reconciliation or royal decree, to end public familial disputes. The Commonwealth will not tolerate further negligence. Prince William's actions have sent the wrong message, and it's imperative that the monarchy wakes up to the modern era's demands.

Sunday Share. Perhaps it’s time to talk about Britain: Without prestige, what do we have left? One of the key tenets of international status is prestige. Noting the importance of strategic context, both historical and contemporary, British prestige had seemed eternal. However, The death of Her Majesty the Queen arrived and in some ways catalysed inflection that our prestige is eroding. Speculators writing in Journals and reputable media outlets, such as O’Toole’s article: Disunited Kingdom, argue that this inflection in Britain is manifesting itself in strengthening nationalism, particularly in the devolved governments of the UK, in turn popularising the idea of breaking the Union. To do so is by no means easy, but if it were to happen it would be a disaster and the end of British prestige. Our next election is imminent, and we need to recognise the severity of the agenda facing the competing parties, including almost mandatory constitutional reform, the likes of which have not been undertaken in decades. Whoever wins, it must with a vision of unity; British prestige depends on it.

The act was sponsored by Senator Henry Dawes. 6: The dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary was created on February 8, 1867, with the Ausgleich (“Compromise”). ‘Australia could vote to become a republic as soon as 2026, Malcolm Turnbull predicts Opponents of the monarchy long believed the death of Queen Elizabeth would give them an opening. A former PM thinks they were right.’ As Malcolm points out, it is not necessary to be an ‘opponent’ of the monarchy to want a fully independent Australia. Personally, I don’t believe in special blood, divine right to rule over people or hereditary entitlement, but you might. We can agree, though, that Australia should have our own representative, one of us from any of our almost 300 cultural backgrounds to advocate for our interests on the global stage. Charles rightly advocates for the UK, and yet we are supposed to pay for his trip to Australia this year in October. Almost 80% of Aussies say he should pay his own way. Having our own Head of State is a straightforward step, and places the ultimate responsibility for Australia in our hands, yours and mine, rather than a foreign monarch. #stateopeningofParliament in the UK today! This year, the anual ceremony will be certainly different to the previous years! It is the first time in a long time, when the opening of the Parliament, will be performed by the King, through the #KingSpeech! HM Charles III There is no doubt about it, it is a ceremony that was, is and will be, a trademark of the UK, the monarchy and the #Parliament! The regalia, the traditions, the solemnity of the ceremonia, the king's speech and the opportunity of the Parliament to seize the moment through the priorities set in the king's speech, it is an example of the unicity of the UK #constitution and the distinction of power, giving an insight of where the power lies and the connections between the two Chambers and Monarch. Is there still a place for traditions, or better said, for keeping all of the traditions within the ceremonies, that perhaps are not relevant to the times we live in now? Are such ceremonies, or the costs associated with them, still considered necessary especially when there are concerns related to the costs of living? The opinions will be split I'm sure, but one can argue that no matter what your personal views are, or what side you are on, these ceremonies are indeed unique and extraordinarily to witness or observ!

Another post on coins, and the different approaches to monarchs’ effigies – even when two countries share the same monarch! The convention for UK circulating coins is that the monarch’s effigy can appear on coins up to the end of the calendar year of the monarch’s demise. So for Queen Elizabeth II, no circulating coins bearing her effigy as head of state could be minted and issued from 2023 onwards. The convention for Canadian coins is different (or at least this is what I understood when in Ottawa - Royal Canadian Mint colleagues do correct me if I am wrong!). In Canada coins showing the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II continued to be minted into 2023. Another key difference to UK coins is that the Canadian 2023 coins included dates of her reign (1952-2022) added under the effigy – see example of the 1 Canadian Dollar coin in the photo. You will also see a small symbol between the dates, made up of four dots, on the obverse of the coin.
