Pat’s Pithy Posts Government Health Insurance for All The Democratic party has for ages tried to place all citizens in a comprehensive government run health insurance program. Back in 1990, Hilary Clinton, a non-government official, proposed one such program to her husband, President Bill Clinton. Not only did she inflate the number of recipients in need of such insurance, her program expanded services to already costly programs. President Bill Clinton, saw the larger issue, paying for this program and shelved the plan. Then President Obama resurrected the idea with the Affordable Care Act, that became known as Obamacare. And when put in practice, was far too costly to the very groups he claimed to be helping. Now, democratic presidential candidate, VP Kamala Harris, has said that her comprehensive government plan would provide medical insurance for everyone, citizen, illegal immigrants, including those who want to remain with their private carriers and doctors of choice. So, taxpayers, we should be asking questions. ·        How many people are without some form of insurance coverage now? [in 1990 it was14% of the population] [in 2022 it was 7.9% of the population] ·        Will the current hospital and medical community have the income from lower reimbursements needed for the equipment and capacity of treating the 333.1 million people in the US? [hospitals, advanced diagnostic and treatment systems, physicians, nurses] ·        Why did the number of people living below the poverty line in the Biden/Harris administration increase? [in 1990 it was 9.6 million] [in 2022 it was 37.9 million] ·        Will the people who can afford private insurance, or are covered by their employer, accept government mandated rationing, and restrictions to their choice of providers, medicines and treatments? [in 1990 86% of the population had independent insurance] [in 2022 92.1% of the population had independent insurance] ·        In the 3 ½ years of the Biden/Harris administration, the United States has had to pay for the health care of more than 8 million illegal migrants. How much will you have to raise in taxes to pay for their care? Kamala, and her predecessors believe that the government can do a better job than the existing healthcare insurance system. How is that working with $100 billion fraudulent payments eating up necessary funding? If you want a President who will clean up the fraud, then President Donald Trump, who knows how to read a budget for its weaknesses and fraud, is the candidate for you. # # # Patricia E. If “I’ll do anything for votes” were a picture. Phil Lyman's attempt to scapegoat diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the tragic bridge collapse in Baltimore is reckless and unfounded. Blaming DEI initiatives for an inconceivable accident shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the incident and DEI's purpose.   Lyman and others are using DEI as a convenient target to push their political agendas, regardless of how baseless or harmful their claims may be.   DEI is not a partisan issue but about creating environments that allow everyone to thrive. To dismiss DEI as a buzzword or as ‘anti-conservative’ is to overlook its potential to positively impact society. These knee-jerk reactions, like Lyman's haphazard social post, are not to be entertained. Individuals must educate themselves about DEI and recognize its importance in fostering a more equitable world.    Lyman struggled to justify his social media remarks, which is evidence that these accusations against DEI are an attempt to score political points and lack substance. It is disheartening to see elected officials resort to shameful tactics and baseless talking points, even blaming their social media teams for spreading unfounded claims.   Our collective focus should be on understanding the root causes of the bridge collapse and implementing measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future, not on playing politics at the expense of dialogue and progress. Thank you Curtis Bunn of NBC News for bringing attention to Lyman’s misguided and harmful behavior and including my perspective.
