Today, we celebrate the leaders who have shaped our nation and our democracy. We know not all of the past actions of our leaders have upheld our nation’s professed values of liberty and justice for all. And we believe in the importance of standing up for the marginalized and underrepresented, and fighting for everyone’s rights. But we reject the idea that our society is irreversibly divided, or must become even more divided. We must come together as a country to build a more just and equitable future for all. We believe in a vision of America where everyone is respected, protected, and represented; regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic status. We might have different ideas of how to fight for justice. We might come from or live in different places or situations. But the determination that justice and equality are worth fighting for and must be our guiding principles should always unite us: as women, as citizens, as a country, as a society. As we celebrate, it’s crucial to also note the continued absence of women in the highest office. In over 230 years, the United States has yet to have a female president. Women’s representation in government is a vital issue, with the U.S. lagging behind many other nations in women’s representation in national legislatures, even after recent progress. Having women in leadership positions brings diverse perspectives and priorities that benefit everyone. It’s time to break down the barriers preventing women from running and winning elections, ensuring our government reflects the diversity of our nation. Let’s honor our history today, and look forward to the day when we can proudly say, “Madam President.” #PresidentsDay

Now obviously we only celebrate when we reach 50% representation but, whatever your politics, it’s a big moment to see 264 women MPs voted in. The Un-Tapped and Un-Utilized Power of Women-Force in America: Have you ever considered the significance of women as a powerhouse in determining, influencing, and causing the chain of Policy and consequential actions geared toward a sustainable political civilization. Indeed, women possess unique strengths- the power of motherhood, family development, peace initiatives, love and hospitality, and the power of nursing and care, the Mother Theresa conceptual effects. These are not just roles but sources of strength that can shape current and future policies and actions. Your unique strengths are invaluable and should be recognized and celebrated. But what about a woman presidency? It's a question that needs to be asked and considered. Of course, yes. Why not? To all women of America, this is a clarion call to weigh the critical options and actions of showing and demonstrating the powerhouse of women to redefine the US political landscape in the forthcoming elections. It is left to determine if you want to be heard, played as a second fiddle (which you are not), or prefer a character persona to un-witty sounding scoldings. There are no such women as 'Childless Cat Ladies, or scum." Mutual respect is KEY.

Educating yourself on women to watch out for in politics is a great way to celebrate Women History Month The results of a recent study carried out by the Pew Research Center show that the majority of Americans do not have concerns about the possibility of a female president or the underrepresentation of women in political positions. However, the Center for American Women and Politics suggests that women could occupy important roles in the upcoming year. To delve deeper into and possibly support women involved in politics during the 2024 elections at local, state, and national levels, here are five women worth taking into consideration. 1. Barbara Lee: California representative 2. Letitia James: New York Attorney General 3. Kathy Hochul: Governor of New York 4. Cherelle Parker: Philadelphia’s first woman mayor 5. No invitations in the mail! Inspiration can, and should, come from many sources, and this morning I was inspired by this post by Howard University "If we are to wait to be invited to take our power, I promise the invitation is not in the mail" - Stacey Abrams For me, it is both a powerful and inspirational quote. On the one hand, it is a statement in which I find an immense amount of truth. On the other it is inspirational because it can give courage to those who are marginalized are are grappling with injustice in the workplace and within society. It is no secret recently issues around Anti-Blackness have increased. We will never recieve an invitation in the mail. There will not be change overnight, but we do have the power of making our voices heard, and demanding that there is a change. It is not just about making demands. It's about a consistent approach to make sure that concerns around racism are not relegated to the back seat. These concerns are as important as any other and we must ensure that the concerns around racism are heard. After working in diversity and inclusion for over 3 decades, I have learned: 🎯 Speaking out about racial injustice is powerful 🎯 You will not get an invitation to make changes that others feel is against their own power, but try to do it anyway! 🎯Understand that your voice is as important and you have a right to voice concerns. #DiversityandInclusion #racism #AntiRacism

This is a statue of leading Suffragette Annie Kenney. A remarkable woman from my home town. As I walked walked passed the statue, with my Eight year old daughter, Amal. I was given a personal lesson on the meaning of "true impact" The conversation went like this. Amal: Daddy, do you know who this is? Me: I think so, just don't remember the name. Amal: It's Annie Kenney, and she is like an amazing person. Me: Really, what makes her so amazing? Amal: She got women the right to vote, when everyone was against her. Me: Wow, but how does that make a difference? Amal: It means that if I want to, I can be Prime Minister. 🤯 The last statement was the most impressive part of that conversation. To think that the impact of work done by this working class women over a 100 years ago, allowed MY eight year daughter, to not just dream but confidently believe that she can be prime minister, is a great example of real impact. But this impact goes beyond just women, the fruits of Annie's struggles has given hope of prosperity to many sections of society, men and women alike. Therefore, on this international women's day, it is important to appreciate the holistic nature of equality and how ensuring the rights of one section of society makes a better society for everyone. #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday #iwd
