ALL - FIRST, I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the birth of our #corps. SECOND, how many times in your Marine Corps career did you hear or even talk about "#TunTavern?" Well, for nearly 2 years there has been a team working to actually rebuild the birthplace of our Corps. I am excited to tell you, that dream is going to become a reality!!! UuuuRAH!!!!!!! We are on schedule to have the grand opening on 10 Nov 2025. In time for the celebration of our 250h #marinecorpsbirthday ! To bring you up to speed: - We are ready to sign the paperwork to purchase the land. The building location will be approximately 250 yards from the original site.  - We have selected an architect - We have selected a construction company - We have our website up & running. From the site, you can select your level of support & yes, there are multiple levels of support. Here is an exciting part, to help us raise funds, we have secured the only female coppersmith, @housecopper in the U.S. She will be hand making a limited edition 18th century copper mug. Only 1,500 of these will be produced! So if you want one of these collector items you will need to get your order in EARLY. Here is the best part if you purchase one of the mugs: - They will be numbered - They will have the circa 1775 USMC emblem & the Tun Tavern stamp - You will also be able to have your name hand engraved on the face of the mug where....... - they will be displayed in a special case, specifically designed to house the mugs in THE TUN itself. AND you will never ever have to pay for a beer in the Tun! That is correct, these mugs will be bottomless.... I could go on & on, but I am glad you have read this far. Bottom line, you have the opportunity to be part of history. Support our veterans! Veterans are vital people in our community. They have great stories, great skills and great knowledge, yet many suffer from physical and mental disabilities. That doesn't mean they no longer play an important part in our community, it just means we, as a community, need to find alternative ways to support them. As a veteran myself who didn't know what to do with my life after my service, I struggled to find a career path that I loved. I finally found that when I was introduced to the film industry in 2006. The film industry has a very similar structure to the military, which makes it easy to adjust to. I personally have used different aspects of the industry as coping mechanisms for my PTSD and other issues. There’s so much in the film industry that veterans can do from background extras work to military consultant to cinematographer to scriptwriter to editor to medic, and much more. The film industry is vital to the Louisiana economy from hiring cast and crew to bringing in tourists to see locations that were filmed. As a local producer, my goal is to hire veterans to fill 60% of my cast and crew positions. In order to do that, the veterans need to be trained if they are not already in the industry and that is where my non-profit comes in. With proper funding, I can train veterans free of charge, introduce them to film projects and also help interested veterans in applying for their veteran benefits, including any veteran disability benefits they may be eligible for. I am raising money with a dinner fundraiser on September 30th from 6-11pm to help train the veterans.
