1. What made you become a founding member of COAST?
🌟 [Dr. Oudekerk] I was fortunate enough to be a part of a group of systemic leaders who saw a need to connect with other associations to discuss the future of the MFT profession. We were able to collaborate and share some ideas that pushed us forward in creating an association that supports systemic therapists and the valuable work being done. Being a founder member allows me an opportunity to support the mission of COAST.
2. Describe COAST's mission in a way that feels meaningful to you.
🌟 [Dr. Oudekerk] The mission of COAST is meaningful because I feel that systemic therapy is very crucial in helping individuals and families everywhere. When an association can support the systemic work as well as the systemic providers and educators, then it also creates more longevity in the field.
3. What would you like future COAST members to find in COAST?
🌟 [Dr. Oudekerk] I would like them to find a home that is accepting and supportive of their professional path.
4. What's one good reason more MFTs should consider joining COAST?
🌟 [Dr. Oudekerk] Being a part of a national association helps us to form a professional identity, creates opportunities for service and leadership, and it also provides the much-needed systemic training that we need to continue to stay relevant on the issues we face as systemic therapists. #mft #systemictraining #systemictherapy
