🗣️ Revamping My Job Search: Open to Opportunities and Seeking Advice 🗣️ I’m growing increasingly tired of finishing as the runner-up in every role I pursue. Aside from consulting for a 12-week stint with an agency in Canada, I've been unemployed since October 2022, tirelessly, countlessly revamping my résumé and cover letters, positioning myself as a suitable candidate for roles spanning from entry-level positions to mid-to-senior levels in numerous fields: #branding #creative #strategy #marketing #communications #publicrelations #newbusiness and #experiential. I've cast a wide net across virtually every industry, applying for numerous #fulltime positions in each. I am open to being on the road 365 days a year. I'm open to relocating. I am open to going back to school. I am open to pivoting my career completely. I have applied and been turned away from dozens of retail, service industry and day laborer jobs. Even my ChatGPT suggested starting anew in a completely different field. I just want to produce good work (beyond all the résumés, cover letters and over-designed pitch decks). After two decades of consistent work and multiple side hustles, I'm at a loss. Please stop saying that you can’t afford me. I’m on month 20 of $0 coming in; Literally, any money is good money for the right opportunity. I’m a hard worker, and I love to work. If anyone can sense the desperation in these words, please offer some assistance. #JobSearch #OpenToWork #Networking #personalbranding #CareerChange
I really enjoyed working with you and I hope you get snatched up quickly!
Honestly Max I got so sick of not getting jobs I could easily do in my sleep for whatever rediculus reason they told me, that I just took the plunge and went out on my own. It’s literally never been easier to start (or acquire) a business of any kind. It doesn’t have to be consulting - you could literally apply your amazing experience to a plumbing business and kill it. Two books that changed my trajectory completely: Millionaire Fastlane and Buy Then Build. Both helped me set a career course that has changed my life. Highly recommend you give them a read if you haven’t already. My advice: stop asking for a job and go show them why they made a mistake not hiring you. Turn the desperation into relentless will and motivation. But not to polish up your resume and submit 100 more application; Put all your amazing energy into creating (or acquiring) your own business 💪🏻 Editing to add - I’m assuming you are asking for feedback after every miss, just make sure you are asking for candid feedback, not fluffy “you’re too good/over qualified/too expensive” as those are likely not the real reasons you are not getting the job. Perhaps there is something you are telegraphing during the interview process that is giving them second thoughts.

1moMax - It's been a long time since the DePauw days! Frederick Crampton, MBA HCM and I have experienced the strain of layoffs/job searches in our family...it's relentless! Happy to connect you with a someone who knows a thing or two about the branding and ad world, Eric Schnabel. He's a good guy to connect with (and I gave him a heads up that I'd be tagging him here)! Best of luck to you and hoping something awesome comes your way soon!
