What on earth could finding a valuable book that pre-dates Galileo have to do with hiring the right talent. Connections are important. In employer branding they mean everything. As a hiring manager, is it more important for you to know what you’re looking for or to recognise something of unexpected value. Be careful for what you look for, you may get it.
May I share this find with you? It sold for £10,000 at Hansons. I am so proud when we discover historical treasures like this

Look beyond the cover and you may find something of surprising value within. This post struck a chord with me for several reasons. Firstly, it sums up what I love about the antiques business: the thrill of the great find. Sometimes the full import of its monetary value is not immediately obvious. But something about the object speaks to you on a visceral level and tells you it is special. For me, this is a also great metaphor to use with my employer brand clients. I help all kinds of organisations connect with the talent that drives them. Talent attraction is one element of this. But identifying the pick of the bunch is not necessarily an exercise in the obvious. A lesser auction house, I believe, may have overlooked this. It may have cherry picked the shiny objects that wear their value ostentatiously. Time poor and profit driven, it’s easy to go for the quick win. But at what cost. It reminds me of a story I was told during a project I worked on at Channel 4. A very impressive hiring manager there told me that they were in the business of finding talent that was fit for the purpose of the role - and sometimes this was different to simply being good at interviews. I thought this was a very perceptive point. Interviews for some of us are torturous affairs of the unnatural. Introverts are easily outshone by their extroverted competitors. There is a lesson to employers in the discovery of this book. Beyond an assuming cover, untold riches may be found. Looking is one thing. Seeking is another thing entirely. It’s a word seldom used today. But it implies a greater degree of acuity. Seek and ye shall find. Simply look and, well, you may miss the book. #hireright #employerbrand #evp #talentattraction #talentacquisition #hiringstrategy

Logo description : The dragon is powerful and a mythical creature, so it represent society as a complex entity. Just as a dragon can have many facets, societies can be multifaceted with various systems, norms, and challenges. The lion, known for its strength and leadership qualities, can symbolize humans as individuals within society. Lions are often seen as noble and fierce creatures, reflecting the human capacity for courage and determination. Together, this symbolism could says that individuals (lions) navigate the complexities and challenges of society (the dragon) by drawing upon their own strength and character. It also implies that society can be both awe-inspiring and demanding, much like a dragon. Together united, their actions resonate and elevate the society to a higher level Regards, Rotaract Club of Kumaraguru College of Technology Rotaract District Organisation 2023-2024 Group 03 | RID 3201

❗ Throwback Thursday ❗ Check out this scene from Steven Spielberg's, Jurassic Park that perfectly explains how the value of an object gets assigned. "Are they heavy ... then they're expensive." Without going down the rabbit hole of the Value Theory, we as critical thinkers do this all the time. We assign value to an object, idea, or action based on bias, experience, etc. We also devalue things the same way; we are quick to devalue an idea, concept, or action we don't understand, especially one we've never used before. Locard's Exchange Principle states that every action leaves a trace. This principle is as true in the digital world as it is in the physical world. Don't be quick to devalue potential evidence on the digital side. Instead, engage with a skilled professional that understands digital intelligence and its potential probative value. Because if you don't know what you're looking for, it will look like there's nothing there to find. #digitalintelligence #locardsexchange #digitaltwin #privateinvestigation #criticalthinking #dfir #criminaldefense #triallaw

I am blessed to, in collaboration with Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education, work with companies that are determined to invest in their future success by elevating their managers and leaders in these kinds of programs. An often overlooked value in these programs, beyond the competence building of the content, is the networking and sharing of experience. 1) The feeling that others have the same kind of engagement and face the same kind of obstacles, is motivating and builds strength. “I am not alone.” 2) Sharing experiences on different approaches, tips and tricks, and challenges with peers, builds collective intelligence. “I learn from my colleagues and they learn from me.” 3) The exchange of experiences also provides a deeper knowledge and understanding of the deeds, needs, and challenges of different parts of the organization. This in turn strengthens collaboration and operating more as “one”, instead of losing time and effort in the empty space between silos. “I am part of the whole.” This course is an excellent example.

I am delighted to share with you that this group of fantastic managers at DeLaval have completed the Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education Business Program for DeLaval. Congratulations to you all on an excellent achievement! The diplomas are well deserved. It has been a true pleasure to be with you at Hamra Farm during this program. The setting is beautiful and DeLaval is a very fine company with exceptional people (and cows :D).
