Dr. Gaya Gamhewage and interns: coffee chat on leadership ☕ We interns had a wonderful time at the informal coffee chat session with Dr. Gamhewage, Gaya and her team this Monday morning. Over warm drinks, Dr. Gaya generously shared her journey through her career, highlighting key milestones and lessons learned along the way. A central theme of the conversation was leadership, particularly the importance of women in leadership positions within WHO. Dr. Gaya provided valuable insights into the unique challenges women face in these roles and how they can overcome these obstacles. She also emphasized the need for diversity and inclusion to foster effective leadership and progress within the organization. We also discussed various leadership qualities and reflected on how to critically develop them, offering a holistic view of what it takes to be an effective leader in the field. Dr. Gaya's stories and perspectives resonated with many, leaving interns inspired and equipped with practical advice to navigate their own professional journeys.
