A graduation celebration was held for the inaugural program of the McLeod Industrial Maintenance Youth Residency Program at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Spring and Summer sessions were held to accommodate the 11 participating high school or recently graduated students representing: Hannah-Pamplico High School and Career Center, Florence 1 School’s Advantage Academy, Darlington County Institute & Technology, Lake City Career Center, and Florence-Darlington Technical College. Kayla Bellamy, Zachary Berghorn, Landon Blakeley, Ny'Asyah Brown, Kirsten Fulmore, Jose Lopez-Medrano, Sarah Lowell, Octavian McKnight, Ke'lajah Thomas, Markis Wells, and Jaden Williams spent three weeks at McLeod Regional Medical Center gaining hands-on experience trade knowledge in the field of construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. The Industrial Maintenance Youth Residency Program is a partnership between Harbor Freight Fellows Initiative, Big Picture Learning, and McLeod Health. The goal is to increase support and investment in skilled trades education through apprenticing experiences for youth.
