5 reasons why you should hire a nurse for healthcare roles away from the bedside. 1. Work ethic Ever work a 12 hour shift with no breaks with an impossible to do list and still leave for the day on time (ish)? Nurses do. All. The. Time. So while I’m not saying to exploit your nurse workers, I am saying that (most) job descriptions that require a “fast paced environment” or on call or off hours don’t scare us. 2. Multi-task or single-task, as needed A hospital work day requires lots of plate balancing. But there are also plenty of times we have to be honed in on just one thing. Most of us can switch back and forth fluidly. 3. Loves a plan, can re-adjust when that plan explodes If we don’t plan out our day, we’re in trouble. But if we also can’t adjust, re-prioritize and re-plan when that day inevitably goes to hell, we’re also in trouble. So we do both. 4. Knows how to get your sweet, confused meemaw to take her meds …as well as lots of other ways to help scared, sick people—who are often also in terrible pain—feel safe enough to accept and receive treatment. 5. Can work alongside all kinds of people—even some of the smartest people in the world—and still hold their own snd contribute to the team There’s no comparison between nursing school and medical school/residency/fellowships etc. But we’re still co-workers with mutual goals and nurses have to be able to communicate effectively with folks who have spent nearly three decades of their lives in school and training, just as much as we have to communicate effectively with our patients. There are lots more reasons to hire a nurse into your non-bedside healthcare role, but here’s a good place to start! #nurse #healthcare #medical

Bedside nursing is tough. 😱 I have a bad day when there's a typo in my email... nurses have a bad day when their patient codes and they have to go through extreme graphic measures to LITERALLY save a life. They're SAINTS! I could truly never serve like they do. (mostly because I hate blood, hospitals, needles...) I digress... I know someone who is burned out from bedside nursing. She's looking to transition to a different type of role in the healthcare field, but the massive array of opportunity and direction is overwhelming. We've been using AI to sort possible options with a RN degree and assessing salaries that way too. Does anyone do recruiting for healthcare who can talk to my contact? Anyone know of a resource that could help guide her direction? Or anyone just want to connect with a fellow nurse who's burned out and struggling at the hospital? Not a marketing-related post, but I know LinkedIn will do its thing 🤗 TIA #nurse #healthcare #healthcarejobs #healthcarerecruiter #jobsearch #medicalcareers #medicaleducation

Why All Nurses Shouldn't Be Confined to Bedside Care (Tales of a Public Health Nurse) - - This story was shared with me by one of my colleagues who is currently practicing as a Public Health Nurse but started out as a Registered Bedside Nurse. “A few years ago, I found myself feeling burnt out and unfulfilled in my role as a bedside nurse. Despite my passion for patient care, the long hours, high patient ratios, and physical demands took a toll on my well-being. I felt stuck, wondering if there was more I could do to make a difference in healthcare. That's when I decided to explore other avenues within nursing. I transitioned into a role in public health, where I had the opportunity to work on community outreach programs and advocate for preventive care initiatives. It was a refreshing change that reignited my passion for nursing. Through my new role, I realized that nursing encompasses a diverse range of specialties and opportunities beyond the hospital walls. From research and education to administration and policy-making, there are countless ways for nurses to contribute to the healthcare system and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.” So, why should all nurses not be confined to bedside care? In my opinion, because we have unique skills, knowledge, and perspectives that can be applied in various settings to address healthcare challenges from different angles. By embracing diverse roles, we can drive innovation, improve patient care, and advance the nursing profession as a whole. And so I ask, dear Nurse what is your passion or motivation? ———————————————- Found this post helpful? Please Repost to your network. Is a career as an NP better than a career as an RN? It depends on your passions and goals. Nurse Practitioners require more education, clinical hours, and certifications. In functional medicine, NP's help identify the source of a patient's disease or illness, and prescribe a treatment plan to address the root issue.
