Join us for a screening and Q&A with filmmaker Kimi Takesue to discuss her film "Onlookers." RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/eB6ZygRd -- ONLOOKERS offers a visually striking, immersive meditation on travel and tourism in Laos, reflecting on how we all live as observers. Traversing the country's dusty roads and tranquil rivers, we watch as painterly tableaus unfold, revealing the whimsical and at times disruptive interweaving of locals and foreigners in rest and play. Tourists swarm sites of spectacle, then recede like a passing tide, leaving Laotians to continue with their daily lives. ONLOOKERS transports viewers on a sensorial journey of deep looking and listening, inviting audiences to contemplate their own modes of tourism, while asking enduring questions about what we seek when we travel. Moderated by Lana Lin, Director of the Graduate Certificate in Documentary Media Studies. Co-produced with Documentary Program Associates Adriana de Lucio (Media Studies '24) and Johann Yamin (Media Studies '24). #schoolofmediastudies #thenewschool #events

let's talk about Art of Noticing as a Traveler and as a Travel filmmaker....❤💫 As a traveler and a travel filmmaker, the Art of Noticing becomes essential for capturing the essence of a place on camera. It involves not just seeing the sights, but truly understanding the culture, people, and landscapes that you're filming. For a travel filmmaker, it's about paying attention to the details that can make a scene come alive on screen – the way the light hits a building at sunset, the expressions on people's faces as they go about their daily lives, the unique sounds of a bustling market. It's about being attuned to the stories that are waiting to be told in every corner of the world. Practicing the Art of Noticing allows travel filmmakers to create more immersive and authentic films that transport viewers to far-off destinations and inspire them to explore the world themselves... . . . #TravelTips #BePresent #AdventureAwaits #traveltheworld #linkedingrowth #linkedinforcreators #linkedinforcreators #linkedincreators #linkedinengagement #linkedincommunity #linkedinconnections #linkbuilding #travel #traveller #travelblogger #travelindustry #travelexperience #travelinfluencer #travelgram #travelindia #travelandmore

My latest short cinematic film, "Heart of Humanity," is now on YouTube! 🎬✨ With so much noise in the world today, it's almost too easy to get distracted, often caught up in what has happened in the past or focused on the anxieties of the future. These distractions tend to pull us further away from the present moment—moments that are right in front of us, allowing us to connect with, love, and support our environment and one another. This video, although short, marks a significant step forward in my journey as a filmmaker. Combining my own footage with clips from Motion Array, I delved into color grading SLOG 3 footage and custom sound design to create a piece that resonates with the moments that connect us all. It helps me serve my purpose as a creator: to strike a balance between love and creativity. 🌍🎥 Please watch, share, and let me know your thoughts. Your support means the world to me as I continue to grow and tell stories that highlight the beauty and connection of humanity. https://lnkd.in/etWse68t #CinematicFilmmaking #HeartOfHumanity #ColorGrading #SoundDesign #Storytelling #MotionArray #KBVisuals

In 2020, the World Tourism Organization stated in a press release that the number of travelers visiting destinations motivated by the desire to see locations where series or movies have been filmed is growing. Culture is an essential vector for tourism, and cinematography can serve as a reflection of a community's culture. The development of film tourism began in the 20th century, when movies stopped being filmed exclusively indoors and filmmakers started seeking outdoor locations to enrich their productions. In that same century, the term “movie-induced tourism” emerged, an expression that refers to the evocation or fascination that filming locations provoke in viewers, encouraging them to visit the places where scenes were shot. Cinema presents the country to the world, promoting the visibility of various sites across the national territory that become tourist attractions. Currently, the main provinces in the Dominican Republic chosen for filming are: - Samaná - Puerto Plata - Santo Domingo (Colonial City) - Santiago - Punta Cana - San Pedro de Macorís In the Dominican Republic, the film industry is primarily regulated by Law No. 108-10 for the Promotion of Cinematographic Activity. At Santroni Parsons, we specialize in advising our clients on the execution of sustainable productions, meaning those that do not harm the environment, do not generate single-use waste, and positively contribute to the community. . . . #ecolaw #santroniparsons #republicandominicana #filmindustry #industriadelcine #cine #samana #movies #dominicanrepublic

Creative, Art & Animation Director | Helping agencies and brands design exceptional stories for global impact.
Atlas festival in Lisbon was nice, With great artists and incredible projects showcases. But the most interesting thing, I feel, was the will of the audience to engage and discuss more serious topics than how to make a storyboard or flying triangles. Presenting projects and what we do is fundamental, but at the same time In the years, I ve seen it does not really spark any conversation. At Atlas, more than the technical process behind what I do, that is pretty linear and straight forward, I went to present a slight of my career and mostly how “ethic” conditioned my path as director and the clients I work with. Surprisingly this is something that kept me talking with many audience members during the entire after festival. It seems that ethic and the impact we generate, not for our clients wallets, but for the people around the world, is something that keeps many people thinking and questioning what they do during their daily jobs, Yet we don’t talk about it enough while we keep creating images, videos and realities able to deeply influence the hearts, minds and behaviours of so many people around the globe. - - - - - - - Below clip from De Imperio short film #artdirector #creativity #creativedirector #education #design

Yesterday, I had the privilege of doing something that, for a long time, felt like a distant memory: Directing a shoot for a documentary film. After 1.5 years of watching opportunities in the AV industry vanish and work dry up, stepping back into ”REC” mode feels nothing short of surreal. So surreal I took this picture at Kinos Rentals in Helsinki. When an industry is in a crisis, the fear of losing your skills as a professional is real. How do you keep up your skills when there are no projects to work on? The answer, I’ve found, is to create your own opportunities, even when they seem small or uncertain. Get yourself back on the road, even if it is for a day. You don’t always have to have all your ducks in a row to cross the road… This project may never see the light of day, but that doesn't diminish its value. It’s not always about the final product; it’s about the process, the craft, and the passion that drives us to keep honing our skills, even in the face of adversity. I fell in love with storytelling as a young girl growing up in Nurmes. For me being a filmmaker is not just a job—it’s a calling. And if this resonates with you, I urge you: Keep practising, keep creating, and don’t let the downtime define your journey. 🖤 #DocumentaryFilmmaking #FilmDirector #AVIndustry
