“More men than ever are feeling pushed out of DEI initiatives, and the fear of saying the wrong thing paired with the unhelpful narrative that men are the problem has created an unwelcome barrier to increasing the number of male allies. Discussing reproductive health can feel uncomfortable for many, but the gender pay gap is directly linked to female reproductive health and without facing the subject head on, progress will remain elusive. The results of the survey are fascinating and are the first step in breaking taboos that have impacted women’s careers for too long.” Sophie Creese, Co-Founder, HeyFlow -- In November 2023, HeyFlow launched a male allyship survey with BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) to find out how knowledgeable and comfortable male leaders in digital are about reproductive health, which is creating barriers for women in the workplace. After collecting data from over 110 leading organisations, we are pleased to see that 56% of male leaders in digital would like to take a more proactive role in their company to support women better. It’s estimated that around 1 in 10 women of reproductive age suffer from endometriosis. Yet, it takes an average of 7-10 years to receive a proper diagnosis. Numerous studies have highlighted the issue of women being taken less seriously by healthcare providers when it comes to reproductive health concerns. Research has shown that women's pain is more likely to be dismissed, minimised, or attributed to psychological factors compared to men's pain. This phenomenon is often referred to as "gender bias in healthcare." Recognising and addressing these biases is essential to ensure that women receive the proper level of care, validation, and treatment for their health issues. How?
