Have you read the latest paper by Cecilia Pardi, Åsa Hellberg and Pauline Isakson on single-exon fetal RHD genotyping: a 31-month follow up in the obstetric population of Western Sweden? This comprehensive study tested nearly 7000 samples over a 31-month period in Western Sweden. Key Insights: 🔬 Evaluated the efficiency of a non-invasive single-exon approach in 6948 RHD negative pregnant women. 🧬 Found a low frequency (0.6%) of maternal RHD gene variants, predominantly in non-European ancestry. 👶 Confirmed high sensitivity (99.95%) and specificity (100%) of the RHD screening test. The #GCPG, along with the Practice Committee of American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM, recently updated their committee opinion on clinical management of mosaic PGT-A results. Some highlights: 👉 There are many possible explanations for mosaic PGT-A results, including test artifact/"noise", DNA amplification bias, contamination, mitotic state and lab factors. 👉 Retrospective studies show differences in reproductive potential, but one non-selection study suggested no difference for some embryos with mosaic results. More research is needed. 📢 Risk for persistent mosaicism in mid-late pregnancy is low 📢 👉 There is a lack of data to inform evidence-based recommendations for prenatal testing after MET. There is also no evidence-based way to predict risk for adverse outcome. 👉 Evidence-based genetic counseling is 👏 crucial 👏 in helping patients make the right transfer decisions.
