Growing organizations with SEO. Soli Deo Gloria.

What does 'canonical' mean when it comes to SEO? Imagine you have a favorite magazine. Now, imagine there are five different copies of this magazine on your shelf, each with a different cover, but inside, it's all the same content. A "canonical URL" says, "This is the one official version." This matters on the web because very often the same content can be found on different pages or URLs. This can make search engines like Google scratch their heads, wondering which version is the real deal to show people. By using a canonical URL, you tell search engines, "This is the primary version of my content." And this helps to: 🤔 Avoid Confusion: It ensures that search engines don’t get mixed up and split the importance of your content across multiple versions. 🦺 Boost Visibility: By pointing to one main URL, your content stands a better chance of ranking higher in search results since it's no longer competing with itself. 😊 Improve Trust: When search engines and visitors know which version of your site is the real one, they trust your URL. In short, a canonical URL helps your website shout, "Here I am! This is the main page!" Having canonical URLs is smart move that makes your online presence stronger and clearer for both search engines and visitors. Have questions? Send a message or leave a comment. #canonicalurls #seo
