My 5 biggest struggles as an entrepreneur. (and how I conquered them) As an entrepreneur, I've been knocked down by: → Failing over and over again → Falling into the comparison trap → Surrounding myself with the wrong people → Making decisions that kept me awake at night → Wanting the throw in the towel and get a "safe" job That's the raw reality of entrepreneurship. → It's not just about big wins and highlight reels → Everyone is fighting that voice saying, "You're not enough." → You're always testing, always pushing, hoping for breakthroughs → You don't work less, you work more, because this is YOUR vision → And guess what? You own every. single. piece. of it. My biggest struggle? Not just in business, but in life: Admitting I DON'T have all the answers. It's hard to keep going when you can't predict the outcome. But here's what I learned: I had to let go of that fear of failure. I had to shift my mindset from worrying about the "what if" to focusing on "what now." And that's what all successful people do. They don't chase perfection. They chase progress. They don't go at it alone. They build teams. They ask for help! The moment I changed my mindset, I became more fearless and continued moving forward. (This applies to your career and life, too, not just business.) So here's what you do: Stop thinking you need to have it all figured out. Give yourself permission to ASK for what you need. Raise your hand. Ask someone for help. Being honest with yourself is the first step, if you don’t really know who you are and you can never know who you want to become. I started meditating everyday to help me overcome failure of my first startup. It made my mind clear, help me understand the mistakes I did and the skills I lacked and everyday for me is to be just better than yesterday. Life is a marathon not a race, social media is not a numbers game but reaching the right people.
Melina - I've had a bit of the opposite problem. I've been to quick to claim that I don't know what I'm doing. In reality, my gut was telling me things were off or weren't working, but I ran from my responsibilities to be in charge. Being able to admit that you don't have all of the answers, but I've learned that it's just as damaging to not admit that a lot of the time you actually do know what you are doing.
Your post really hits the reality of being an entrepreneur. It's tough out there, and the numbers back that up, Melina Panetta :) According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20% of new businesses fail within the first year, and about 50% by year five. The struggles you mentioned—failure, self-doubt, wrong choices—are common for many entrepreneurs. One key point you made is about mindset. Shifting from worrying about "what if" to focusing on "what now" is powerful. A 2023 study from the University of Cambridge found that entrepreneurs with a growth mindset are 34% more likely to succeed. Asking for help is another crucial step. No one can do it all alone, and building a strong team is vital. It's great to see you highlight the importance of progress over perfection. For anyone struggling right now, these tips are a great reminder to stay focused and keep pushing forward.
Your post is incredibly insightful and resonates deeply with the entrepreneurial journey Melina Panetta One key point is how crucial it is to embrace vulnerability. Admitting we don’t have all the answers isn't a weakness it's a strength. It opens doors to growth and collaboration. When you ask for help, you're not just seeking solutions you're inviting new perspectives and expertise into your vision. This can transform challenges into opportunities. Embrace the unknown. Seek support. Keep moving forward.
The people around you have such a big influence on you. Your mood. Your behaviour. Your personality. Super important lesson Melina Panetta
It's something that so many - especially at the beginning of their businesses struggle with. It's almost some sort of badge of failure to admit help is needed. O was like that at the start and spent far too long trying to figure out what to do. Investing in someone who ahs been there, solved the problem and are ahead of you in the journey is a good place to start.
Great points and SO true !!!! Letting go of the fear of failure is key !!! Commenting for a better reach
