I'm very excited to announce that expert lesion segmentations and volume calculations have been added for 1,296 subjects in the "Annotations for A Randomized Phase III Study Comparing Carboplatin/Paclitaxel or Carboplatin/Paclitaxel/Bevacizumab With or Without Concurrent Cetuximab in Patients With Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (S0819-Tumor-Annotations)" dataset on TCIA. These carefully collected NCI Clinical Trial Network images are also accompanied by rich clinical data, making this an immensely valuable dataset for anyone studying imaging in lung cancer. The tumor microenvironment is increasingly recognized as central to cancer. Catherine Muller, et al. report landmark evidence regarding the connection between early local tumor invasion in breast cancer and mature adipocytes.  Their article, “Cancer-Associated Adipocytes Exhibit an Activated Phenotype and Contribute to Breast Cancer Invasion,” published in vol. 71, Issue 7 of Cancer Research strongly supports the innovative concept that adipocytes participate in a complex vicious cycle orchestrated by cancer cells to promote tumor progression that might be amplified in obese patients.  This early research validates Keliomics’ proprietary technology that preserves breast tissue for a minimum of 8 weeks in culture, including mature breast adipocytes and immune populations.
