NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE: Journal of Museum Education 49.1: Transforming Teaching and Learning About The Holocaust From Co-Editor in Chief Nathaniel Prottas in his Editor's Note: "Focused on Holocaust education, this issue of the Journal of Museum Education frames the major debates around how we deal with this dark moment in history through the lens of our work in the museum. It asks how this moment of unimaginable hatred can remain relevant today, particularly in the context of an increasing awareness of other atrocities in our shared history. Rather than shy away from a potentially controversial topic at this moment of heightened tensions, I am proud that this board and our journal have chosen to publish it, recognizing that the study of antisemitism and the Holocaust is not in opposition to a concern for others, but rather a way to study our past in the hopes that our future may be a more humane and caring one." Online access is available for all current members. Editorials and select articles are open access for all. Look for print copies in the coming weeks. Preserving archives protects the truth about the Holocaust in contemporary times. The project “H-Files: Digitization of Micro-Archives on the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes in Ukraine” is an IHRA Grant Call Winner for 2023 and aims to launch coordinated digitization efforts in 13 selected Ukrainian communities to preserve documents surrounding Holocaust history in various Ukrainian micro archives. Organized by After Silence, the project aims to engage Ukrainian local museums, public initiatives, and private collectors to produce a comprehensive catalogue of archival materials that will be digitized and hosted on the Arolsen Archives’ online platform. Translating the IHRA Guidelines for Identifying Relevant Documentation for Holocaust Research, Education, and Remembrance into Ukrainian and adapting them to the region’s unique sociopolitical and historical context, the project is a significant step in the preservation of endangered Holocaust history in contemporary times. We must never forget. As well as honor those who were lost & military men, healthcare, advocates, volunteers who helped pick-up the pieces. A post about Hamas Terrorists; an American from Pakistan, wrote the war in Gaza is fake. Like Zeitgeist is a damaging piece of propaganda w/segment that 9/11 was fake. Reading an article from #ChrisVoss, he said terrorist / kidnapping messages in its forms is still communication. They're still talking. There is still room to.... My initial feeling was surprise (being told by a Hamas supporter that there are no hostages). She was hostile, I blocked her. Then I stopped to think about it. This was #information. Her community believes the war is "fake"; no one died nor was kidnapped. That this is being made-up for Israel (her enemy is not Israel, as the country is mixed territory; her enemy is her perception of Jewish community) to affect Hamas. Only I don't think she thinks "affect Hamas"; I think she thinks: "affect Pakistani's". Let's play a linguistic game focusing on the goodness of people. 1) All people are inherently good (clinically this will manifest based on several factors; to simplify we can see if the empathy lobe is existent or it's size). 2) All races/cultures want what's best for themselves. Many also want what's best for their "brothers" too. 3) Most believe in The Golden Rule. 4) Let's say all religions are good; AND 5) Let's say those promoting violence are actually #not religions but instead local militia, guerrilla, political, cartel or traffickers. I don't think anyone wants misinformation. On either side. Yet it's happening. It's easy to see with linguistics, sociology, advertising/marketing: it's formulaic. Her response, shared there's a massive misinformation campaign, stating people were never #kidnapped nor #murdered. Hama's Mr. Sinwar stated that he learned hostage trades were financially valuable during his time as a prisoner in Israel for his violent crimes. His group initiated attack as he wanted to turn the tables. It was in contradiction to the political agreements previously made between sides. I feel coverage of the war is important. That misinformation is extraordinarily damaging. I know war can breed deep hatred, but I hope that Palestinian's & Israeli's can live in peace after & that current focus is on #Hamas. 2007-08, I never realized Wagner believed 9/11 was fake, from his interest in #Zeitgeist. Last couple years after doing research related to #GNET, I know Wagner is involved in Gamification of Crime as well as financial #fraud including #Casino theft. He shared a story of his best friend having gone to MIT; creating a gambling tech #scam which paid off their student loans. He believed 9/11 never happened. I was in LA, applying for Stewardess, as I wanted to travel the world. I was derailed & felt deep concern for all who were hurt. We cannot allow small groups to utilize fake news nor continue hurting innocents with violence, for any cause.
