The biggest #gap which can be identified in #health #insurance coverages using #dataanalytics are - Inadequate Sum Insured: Many #corporate health insurance policies offer coverage that is insufficient to cover the actual cost of medical treatments, especially for serious illnesses or surgeries. The sum insured often does not keep pace with rising healthcare costs. Lack of Comprehensive Coverage: Some policies do not cover outpatient treatments, dental care, vision care, infertility benefits or DE&I related benefits. This means employees often have to pay out-of-pocket for these common healthcare needs. Insufficient Mental Health Coverage: Mental health coverage is often minimal or entirely absent in many corporate health insurance plans. Given the increasing awareness and prevalence of mental health issues, this is a significant gap. Exclusions and Limitations: Policies often come with numerous exclusions and sub-limits, such as caps on room rent or specific treatments. These limitations can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the coverage when it is needed the most. Lack of Preventive Care: Preventive health care, including regular health check-ups and vaccinations, is often not covered or not emphasized. Preventive care can help in early detection and management of diseases, thereby reducing long-term healthcare costs. Insufficient Coverage for Parents: While many companies provide health insurance for employees, Spouse & Child, the coverage for Parents is often inadequate or not included, leaving families exposed to financial risk. Inconsistent Coverage for Senior Employees: Older employees or those nearing retirement age may face restrictions or lower coverage limits, which is problematic given their higher healthcare needs. Claims Process and Support: The claims process can be cumbersome and slow, with inadequate support and transparency. This can lead to financial stress for employees. Health and Wellness Programs: There is often a lack of integrated health and wellness programs that focus on long-term health improvement and risk mitigation, which can complement health insurance coverage. Employee Awareness and Education: Many employees are not fully aware of the details and benefits of their health insurance policies. This lack of awareness can lead to underutilization of available benefits and inadequate preparation for medical emergencies. Addressing these gaps requires a multi-faceted approach involving improved policy design, better communication and education for employees, and increased emphasis on comprehensive and inclusive coverage that meets the diverse healthcare needs of the workforce. #employeeawareness #opd #preventivecare

According to a new Axios report, many businesses are massively overpaying for employee health plans without even realizing it. This article cites a recent study that found companies are paying 50% more than they should be for the same level of coverage. This is largely due to a lack of transparency and hidden fees from insurance providers and healthcare networks. https://bit.ly/4clyXaS #RenalogicCares #IndustryNews #HighCosts
