We invited Kendra Brodin to our firm retreat last year to speak on emotional intelligence for attorneys and the link to performance data and more positive client interactions and outcomes. Great to see her work being recognized at a larger level. Highly recommend Kendra!

Business development is the art of bringing the future into the present, so that you can do something about it now.
𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐃 Imagine you just opened your law firm. You're excited and want the world to know. So, you put up a sign, send out emails, and post on social media. telling everyone, "𝘏𝘦𝘺, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘮 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱!". That's 𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆. But you don't stop there. You attend events, chat with new people, hand out your business card, and encourage acquaintances to spread the word. That’s 𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆. You decide to go with Jeans and Tees to align yourself with values like being approachable, bold, and unconventional. That’s 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆. You offer complimentary first-time consultations—a little extra something to nudge potential clients your way. That's 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. You respond to clients’ questions, excite them with solutions, and they're sold before you even paint them a happy ending. That’s 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄. As you get busier, you build a team and hire more staff to do what you do. That’s 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐓𝐇. One day, you realize your firm could be good at litigation too. So you get in new partners and offer litigation services to capture new markets. That’s 𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. After you establish a reputation, you pay well-known ranking agencies to endorse your firm as one of the best. That's 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘. You then get others to agree and recognise that your firm is the best. That’s 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒. When you're doing all the above things – that's 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓. Don’t wait until you have opened your own firm to learn the above. Pick a law firm that throws you into the deep end of business skills from day one. Hope I explain the above better than Allan Dib. 𝐏.𝐒: Congratulations on your firm opening, Jia Hern Ang and Sean Lim. May your coffee be strong, your tea lady be pretty, and your clients be reasonable. Here's to conquering the legal world, one client at a time! #kbhsays #businessdevelopment #lawyering

Last year I delivered a series of workshops at the Stowe Family Law annual conference, #stowefest, based around mindset and resilience. The workshops received great feedback and the stand-out comments remain that delegates were moved to take action as a result. One-off training can be inspiring and motivating but at the end of the day, if it doesn’t convert into action-taking, firms won’t see any Return on their Investment. That’s why I’m thrilled to read of the deeper impact offered by Breaking the Barriers to Being Your Best, particularly given the session ends with this quote: “Positive intentions without positive actions lead to positively nothing”. These workshops are available for law firms, barristers chambers and other organisations. If you would like to find out more about booking these sessions for your team, whether in person or online, please drop me a DM. #confidence #faceyourfears #knowyourworth #lawfirms #workshop #training #breakingbarriers #impostersyndrome #lawyers #lawfirm #mindset #resilience #conference #womeninlaw #femalelawyers #coachingforlawyers

Lawyers are super conservative, hate collaborating and never open up about their emotions. Maybe some lawyers. But not these lawyers. Adviserly is the global referral network of boutique law firms, helping each other to thrive. We define a "boutique firm" as a firm of five partners or fewer with innovative mindset and a client, sector or practice area focus. We boutiques embrace collaboration. Partly because we have to - we can't do everything a client needs, so we work together. But once you have started collaborating, you keep doing it because it is a fun, life enhancing experience. You are not alone. There are great people out there who want to help you. On yesterday's call, we discussed helping clients in crisis. From mental health to criminal investigations, things can go horribly wrong. Lawyers are often a shoulder to cry on as much as a source of legal advice. Wherever we are in the world, we have to balance two considerations: 1. duties to our client - the main ones being to act in their best interests, and maintain confidentiality, and 2. duties to uphold the rule of law and not mislead the court. It can get complicated. When a client says they may self-harm, what do you do? When a client is under investigation by the authorities, what do you do? There are textbook answers, and there is real world experience. You need both in order to deal with these situations successfully. And that is where collaboration really comes into its own. We are, to borrow a phrase, "stronger together". Both for ourselves and our clients. Gottlieb Law, PLC is pleased to announce that Benjamin Gottlieb and @Tony Salvatore were selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for 2024. This is Benjamin’s 8th consecutive year on the list and Tony’s first year. According to Super Lawyers, only 2.5% of attorneys are selected for inclusion on the Rising Stars list. The selection process for Rising Stars is rigorous and legal community engagement and client satisfaction are two of the main criteria in this process. #gottlieblaw #realestate #lawfirm #superlawyer #realestateattorneys

Aspiring Attorney - Leadership Brand Advisor committed to authentic legal leadership. "Empowering attorneys to transform their brands with vulnerability and authenticity. Author-in-progress. "Ask Mr. Vulnerability ℠
#vulnerabilityisstrength Is #vulnerability the missing link for lawyers? I have worked with a vast number of lawyers over the years, and I observe #law is no different to any other professional service in the garden of vulnerability and trust. During the last few years, professional businesses of all genres and sizes, including solo and small law firms, laid bare their economic, mental wellbeing and commercial challenges. Many stepped out with stories of raw honesty, whilst others kept a tight lid on their circumstances and stoic facades. How often do we assume a practice is thriving, based on external appearances and social media activities? Yet, it’s often a façade. Those brave enough to share their truth and #vulnerability have given psychological permission to others to do the same without fear of judgement. Sharing strengthens the business community with a calming sense that others are not alone. Will #vulnerability give your brand, clients and networks greater trust and creativity going forward? I believe it can. The question isn’t “Are you ready?” The question is, “Have you DECIDED to be ready?” To discover more about how Carl Shawn Watkins Consulting, LLC can be there for the @lawyers and #legalexperts in your law firm. Here’s how: 1. Clarity Session 2. Goal Casting Session 3. Implementation ~ Plan of Action 4. Unveiling the finished journey So, book a Discovery call today here: https://lnkd.in/gbthGA8v
