DYSTOPIAN OPULENCE OR A LITERAL GARDEN: MET GALA 2024 PREDICTIONS FashionUnited: ‘The Garden of Time’ is this year’s Met Gala dress code, a reference to a short story of the same name, in which author J. G. Ballard explores the endless cycle of destruction and creation made by humanity. The novel follows the life of Count Axel and his wife who reside in a decadent villa surrounded by a blossoming garden. Once cut, each flower in the garden pushes back time and with it the imminent threat of darkness that spreads beyond the confines of Axel’s home. However, with new flowers no longer blooming, Axel is eventually forced to snip the final one, and as a result he and his wife prepare to be consumed by the approaching menacing “rabble” ahead. While the story itself seems intangibly linked to the world of consumption and conflict seen around us, it also intertwines with the Costume Institute's corresponding exhibition ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’. Here, 250 historically significant pieces deemed too fragile to be worn again are to be put on display in what the Met says will be an exploration into the notions of rebirth and renewal in fashion, with a further emphasis on nature’s role in such a process. As such, there is a wide breadth of interpretation for Met Gala’s attendees, with historical references and a reliance on nature being among just two of the avenues to be explored. FashionUnited takes a deep dive into what we could expect from those preparing to take to the Met’s steps on that infamous first Monday in May. explore more: https://lnkd.in/gZ88h6MM #fashion #business #ai #web3 #metaverse #investment #vc

“The Garden of Time”; the Irony of this year’s Met Gala🙄😅 The theme, "The Garden of Time," celebrates the Costume Institute's upcoming exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." A visually stunning exploration of the fragility and ephemerality of fashion, the exhibition features around 250 nature-themed garments and accessories, described as a "celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can't ever be worn again." As we marvel at the intricate designs and delicate embellishments showcased at the Met Gala, we must also confront the stark reality of our industry's impact on the environment. The garments paraded on the red carpet will only ever be worn once, destined to languish in museum archives rather than being enjoyed and cherished. As we celebrate the artistry of fashion, we must also acknowledge our responsibility to the planet. The Met Gala serves as a reminder of the urgent need for change in an industry that too often prioritises profit over sustainability. As a fashion designer and lover myself, indulging in the spectacle of the Met Gala each year is one of my guilty pleasures; though, this year’s theme felt too ironic to ignore. There has to be a more sustainable way to enjoy fashion?! What are your thoughts?👇 ID: dark image of flowers, with a title that says “The ‘delicious irony’ of the Met Gala’s Garden of Time theme. #MetGala #Fashion #Sustainability #EthicalFashion #ClimateCrisis #DEWEY

You've probably already seen the photos from the Met Gala. Today, instead of focusing on the visual aspect, we will concentrate on the idea behind the event and what it signifies 💡 🍃 This year's Met Gala theme was "The Garden of Time”. This concept offers several interpretive paths, none of which directly reference the Brothers Grimm. "The Garden of Time" is a short story written by J.G. Ballard. It explores the concept of timeless beauty. The story's protagonists, Count Axel and his wife, live in a world where natural beauty has been replaced by crystalline structures, including their garden of crystalline flowers. What does this have to do with fashion? The story suggests that true beauty is not dependent on fleeting trends or natural materials, but rather on the ability to create something that transcends time and captures the essence of eternal elegance. ⏳This year, the Met Gala is opening the exhibition "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, which is a tribute to the beauty and timelessness of vintage fabrics and fashion designs throughout the years. To align with the theme, several true vintage looks stood out on the red carpet: such as Zendaya's second red-carpet appearance in a corseted gown from Givenchy's spring/summer 1996 couture collection and her floral bouquet headpiece from Alexander McQueen's 2007 archives. Emily Ratajkowski wore a long-sleeved, backless gown from Atelier Versace's 2001 couture collection and Kendall Jenner showed up in a previously unworn Givenchy by Alexander McQueen autumn/winter 1999 couture dress, and later changed into a winged spring/summer 1997 dress. 👉🏻 The theme and exhibit highlight the critical role of sustainability and preservation in fashion, delving into the various ways that time and nature can impact it. In FINDS, we believe that clothes are made to be worn, and we hope that this event is a small step towards changing the mindset of some celebrities and their approach to fashion. #MetGala #MetGala2024 #CircularFashion #Sustainability

The CHANEL Fall-Winter 2024/25 Ready-to-Wear show took place at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, in a seaside setting reminiscent of Deauville, which inspired Gabrielle Chanel the invention of an allure. Shrouded in mystery, the models seem to be walking along the mythical boardwalk of the French coastal town. Chunky sailor sweaters and knits featuring the landscapes of Deauville alternate with silk blouses with middy collars, herringbone prints, low-cut tops with flounces, jumpsuits and negligees whose delicacy evokes gentle waves breaking and a soft wind blowing. Cinematic, the collection imagined by Virginie Viard takes its vibrant or pastel shades from the ever-changing colours of the Deauville sky, along with brown and gold lamé. A nod to the relationship between CHANEL, the coastal town and the 7th art, cinematic references punctuate the silhouettes. See more at chanel.com/-LD-RTW_FW24-25

New Post: Met Gala 2024 live: Celebrities, red carpet and fashion highlights - https://lnkd.in/gGkNpHT3 Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion is the theme of the Met Museum Costume Institute exhibition, but the dress code for tonight’s gala takes inspiration from the J. G. Ballard short story “The Garden of Time,” which is about the decay of a garden - a metaphor for societal collapse. Expect attendees to go the literal route, with plenty of florals from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Jonathan Anderson who, as the head designer of gala sponsor Loewe, has several of his Spring/Summer 2023 looks with grass growing out of them in the exhibition. Alexander McQueen is sure to be in abundance, with his undertones of death and decomposition. Sleeping Beauties is laid out in three sections: land, sea and sky, so we’re likely to see a lot of natural textures, such as Yiqing Yin’s Fall 2013 coral dress or the entirety of Mugler’s Fall 1997 couture collection. I also fully expect someone (cough Lady Gaga cough) to show up in Viktor & Rolf’s Fall 2005 bed dress.Morph.toInit.bundles.push(function() { Morph.versions={"bbc-morph-app-bridge":"2.2.0","bbc-morph-classnames":"1.0.2","bbc-morph-cookie-config":"3.0.1","bbc-morph-cs-enriched-post":"1.3.13","bbc-morph-feature-toggle-manager":"1.0.3","bbc-morph-gel-icons":"5.1.0","bbc-morph-gnl-smp-adverts":"1.1.0","bbc-morph-gnl-smp-analytics":"1.1.0","bbc-morph-grandstand":"5.7.0","bbc-morph-image-chef-url-transformer":"2.1.0","bbc-morph-isequal":"1.0.0","bbc-morph-lazysizes":"1.0.1","bbc-morph-lx-adverts":"1.0.8","bbc-morph-lx-commentary-data-paged":"1.5.6","bbc-morph-lx-istats":"1.1.4","bbc-morph-lx-reactions":"3.0.3","bbc-morph-moment-ws-timezone-wrapper":"1.0.7","bbc-morph-news-translations":"2.2.4","bbc-morph-responsive-image-srcset":"3.0.1","bbc-morph-share-tools":"5.1.4","bbc-morph-smp":"9.1.1","bbc-morph-ws-typography-info":"1.0.8","morph-container":"4.0.0","morph-require":"3.0.17","react":"0.14.7","react-dom":"0.14.7"}; !function(e){function t(r){if(n)return n.exports;var o=n={i:r,l:!1,exports:{}};return e.call(o.exports,o,o.exports,t),o.l=!0,o.exports}var n={};t.m=e,t.c=n,t.d=function(e,n,r){t.o(e,n)

We have empowered over 2000 companies into change-makers, allowing them to communicate their story of solutions to global issues to audiences who follow the G7, G20, B20, W20, APEC, and COP communities.
Beyond the conventional catwalk display characteristic of fashion exhibits, the recently opened one-woman exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs redefines the essence of a couture show. In a profound display of innovation, the exhibition asserts that fashion shows are not merely transient, fleeting events, but timeless expressions and encapsulations of culture, idea generation, and artistry. Observations from the show: - Instantly, one grasps the revolutionizing perspective; the display blurs the typically distinct lines between collective shows and individual artist exhibits. - Each piece, meticulously crafted and uniquely significant, is showcased innovative story telling. - The galleries are not a cacophony of fleeting seasonal trends but are transformed into a dramatic narrative of the creator's journey and fashion innovation. Subsequent implications for the fashion industry: - Could usher in a new era: Expect a paradigm shift in the way fashion shows could be conceptualized and executed. - Translate to a wider spectrum of couture exhibitions: The industry might witness exploration beyond season-based collections and highlight design breakthroughs and narration of design journeys. - Blend of art and craft: This could instigate a trend of curating exhibits that craft a balance between wearable art and functional fashion. In my predictions, the intriguing narrative technique and blend of personal touch and high craft echoed in this exhibition will set precedents for exhibition-style fashion shows in the future. It is further evident to me that as the fashion world evolves, so should our ideas about displaying and celebrating creativity. This showcase, predominantly, marks a departure from the conventional path, and that's what's most inspiring. #FashionExhibition #Innovation #CoutureRevolution

✨ Jewelry Trends in 2024 In #2024, we're witnessing a significant #evolution of the back-to-nature trend, a theme that has eternally been at the heart of the #arts throughout history. This enduring inspiration is now flourishing anew in our #jewelry industry. In the coming months, we'll see an upsurge in jewelry designs that embody a very organic essence. Picture intertwined branches elegantly crafted into #bracelets and #rings or stones that appear almost spontaneously 'dropped' into roughly finished pieces – a celebration of the unrefined beauty of nature. But this #trend encompasses far more than just these elements; it's a broader homage to nature's intrinsic beauty, and we'll dive deeper into this topic soon on Bizzita. A prime example aligning with this trend is the Shaun Leane ''Hawthorne Ring''. Although not a newcomer to the scene, it encapsulates this trend perfectly, embodying the spirit of nature in its #design. Stay tuned for more insights into how this trend is shaping and #influencing our industry. #jewelrytrends #jewelryinsights #jewelrytrends2024 #trends2024 #jewelryjournalist #jewelryblogger

Fashion evolves over time and, this season, there is a trend that has not gone unnoticed: ‘aesthetic’ style. The basis of this new movement surrounds aesthetics, meaning it considers the nature of beauty, art and a taste for all that is beautiful to look at. The basis of this new movement revolves around aesthetics, meaning it considers the nature of beauty, art and a taste for everything that is beautiful to look at. The main difference between aesthetics and vintage is that the former is an attempt to mix the current style with items from other decades to create a new and different style. In the latter, you just want to recreate a particular style, typical of a certain decade.
