I’ve heard “ad recession” mentioned many times by panellists and peers here at Edinburgh TV Festival - Supported by Screen Scotland, as part of the narrative of the current (very real) TV crisis. We are in a LINEAR (and print) ad recession in the UK. Digital ad spend continues to grow, albeit more slowly than in recent years. The “ad recession” rhetoric is part of the industry obsession with broadcast TV… but more on that later. Perhaps we can think more about the positive growth in digital, rather than focusing on the negative. Perhaps.
