The biggest mistake I made as a CEO? Trying to do a lot! As a new leader, I wanted to tackle every opportunity.  It was like a symphony where everyone was playing their own tune. Chaos! Think of a team as a group of musicians. If everyone's playing in sync, you get a beautiful symphony. If they're out of tune, it's just noise. I realized that my job as a leader is to be the conductor— keeping everyone in harmony and minimizing distractions. My goal became creating the right environment – a clear sheet of music, consistent practice, and a shared understanding of what a great performance looks like. That's how we move with speed and create something truly impactful. I focused on setting ONE clear goal for everyone with a clear, simple message. I gave the team the tools and space to work together, and the result? We started moving in the same direction. Today, this relentless focus is paying off. It has allowed us to create an incredible product that's making a positive impact for family caregivers and seniors. Indira Nooyi summed it up perfectly:  "If you cannot simplify a message and communicate compellingly... you cannot get the masses to follow you." While the choice of which ‘sheet of music’ to play is important, it is more important to have one sheet of music that everyone plays. It's a constant process for us. #Innovation is an essential aspect of a thriving company. Businesses love to talk about it. It's a common word on mission/vision/value posters all across the corporate landscape. But we need to be honest about whether we are using "innovation" as a buzzword or for marketing theater rather than embedding it into our culture and work.
