In the age of consolidation & beginning of new funds, poaching a group can seem very tempting for prospective new platforms that are trying to benefit from decades of institutional knowledge. That doesn't mean that it comes without a price, as seen with the most recent cases of Barings v. Corinthia Global. How to attract top talent progressively? I'm taking a lot of prospective business calls with top alternative and credit managers & the cautious approach seems the way to go.

Big news in the private credit and asset management world today: Barings sued Corinthia Global Management and former employees Ian Fowler and Kelsey Tucker after the upstart private credit firm poached more than 20 employees in one of the largest team lifts at an alternative asset manager in recent years.
