Our team is working hard on the brand-new "Huntsville Northern Bypass" project, which will redefine the commute in and around northern Huntsville. Here's what's underway: - We're moving an impressive 680,000 cubic yards of material to pave the way for progress. - Laying down 112,000 tons of asphalt to create smooth and durable roadways. - Building a 3.4-mile 4-lane highway, connecting US-431 (Memorial Parkway) to AL-255 (Research Park Blvd.), promises to streamline the flow of traffic, significantly reducing inner-city congestion. The New Bridge for Fremantle The iconic Fremantle Traffic Bridge, standing tall since 1939, is gearing up for a transformative change. Originally conceived as a temporary structure, this historical landmark (the fourth built at this site) has dutifully served its purpose for decades. However, with the passage of time, the bridge has gracefully aged, prompting the need for a modern replacement. In response to invaluable feedback from the vibrant Fremantle community and key stakeholders on the initial concept presented in 2022, extensive investigations and technical assessments have been diligently carried out. The result? A fresh, innovative concept that paves the way for a promising future. Exciting Development Update: Main Roads has officially submitted a Development Application (DA) to the Department of Planning, Lands, and Heritage (DPLH). The DPLH is set to conduct an independent public consultation period, providing a unique opportunity for everyone to contribute to the evolution of Fremantle's landscape. Interstate 30 is a heavily trafficked corridor that connects Little Rock, Arkansas, to Dallas, Texas. In Southwest Arkansas near the city of Arkadelphia, two aging bridges on this thoroughfare provided passage over the De Roche Creek. In 2017, the time had come for the crossings to be replaced due to almost continual repairs being needed. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) and Michael Baker International utilized an innovative Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method known as a lateral slide to replace the existing structures. This was notably the first time that a lateral slide had been used in Arkansas. Under this method, the new bridge superstructures were constructed next to the existing bridges on temporary falsework. Once complete, the existing bridges were demolished, and the new bridges were slid into place. The new bridges now accommodate three lanes of traffic in each direction, allowing more people and goods to pass over the creek and reducing delays, which can have economic benefits while also reducing emissions and travel times. PAVEMENT PRESERVATION IN LAKELAND, TN - HA5 SHINES AGAIN! Nestled just a short drive from downtown Memphis, the City of Lakeland, Tennessee, is a hidden gem that's been making strides in infrastructure innovation. Over the summer, our team at Holbrook Asphalt had the pleasure of collaborating with the Lakeland Public Works team on a transformative HA5 project.   Much like other thriving Tennessee communities, Lakeland is experiencing its fair share of infrastructure challenges. The forward-thinking Public Works team understands the importance of pavement preservation to mitigate future reconstruction costs and ensure the longevity of the city's road network.   Their investment is paying off. The cost of asphalt and labor have risen dramatically over the last three years. That means every dollar spent on pavement preservation today has an exponential impact on savings later in the pavement's life.   Along with the cost savings, the project's aesthetics are a nice side benefit. You shouldn't judge the success of a preservation project by how black the asphalt is, but in this case, the residents will enjoy the rich color of the HA5 for many years to come.   As we celebrate the success of the Lakeland project, we're excited about the prospect of future collaborations with this vibrant community and its neighbors. 🚧 Exciting Developments in South Carolina's Infrastructure! 🚧 The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Commission has approved an additional $719 million for the state's 2025 Pavement Improvement Plan, adding to the $3.6 billion already invested since the 2017 Roads Bill. 🔹 Key Focus Areas: Highway safety, road resurfacing, bridges, and interstate capacity.  🔹 New Impact: 727 more miles of roadway, adding to over 8,800 miles of completed and ongoing road work. Pamela Christopher, SCDOT commission chair, praised the Governor and General Assembly for their bold investment, emphasizing the continued efforts to ensure safe and efficient travel for all. Justin P.
