Here’s one rule of sales I follow and will always follow: Know your product. I know what we offer inside and out. I know who it can help, why it helps, and the best time to use it. To be a good seller, you need to be a subject matter expert. You can’t wing it anymore. You wing it, and you lose credibility. If you lose credibility, no one will buy from you. I always continue to learn about our financial services and how they help our clients. Because of that, many prospective clients trust me. They feel like I understand them. When people feel understood, they’re willing to trust you with their money. 

Don't be the f*cking cheapest! Our company and its products/services have a specific value that should not be compromised to offer cheaper rates. Unfortunately, many businesses and salespeople tend to prioritize savings over quality, which is a flawed approach. While saving money can be a great bonus, it should not be the sole focus of your work. As a responsible salesperson, it is essential to understand the value you bring to the client and emphasize it while trying to establish a long-term relationship with them. With the coming changes in the industry due to the NAR settlement Negotiation will be an even more important skillset as an agent. (Hard to imagine that it wasn't before...?) Here's what you should do to show this to prospective clients: - Document and summarize the dollar amount you've negotiated across all transactions in the past 2 years. (Then find an average). - Sprinkle this stat into your listing appointments + Buyer consultations. - Keep a running document of this and update it with each transaction. This sort of thinking does two things: 1. Forces you to look at if you've done a good or bad job in this area. 2. Documents a monetary value you can share with clients. Be proactive, not reactive.
