“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food" Hippocrates This quote could not be more relevant than it is today. Many of our current health issues, including the overburdening of our health systems can be alleviated with simple dietary changes. Reading this review by Dr's Vijay and Valdes in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition really highlights the role that our Gut microbiome plays in promoting many of our current chronic health conditions that we are seeing today. This is closely linked to out Gut barrier integrity which has been shown to be critical in maintaining healthy homeostasis.
