Last night brought lots of energy and optimism to the United Center, including a surprise visit by Vice President Kamala Harris, a strong speech by Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimundo, history grounding remarks by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and an emotional closure to the night by President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and their daughter Ashley. The day started with a great event organized by City Clerk Anna Valencia who brought together many Chicago leaders, including Senator Tammy Duckworth, Abby Pucker, Karen Freeman-Wilson, Aarti Kotak, and Arielle Johnson as well as elected officials and ciciv leaders from across the country to celebrate the power of diverse leaders, voices, and perspectives. One of the day's highlights was running into Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling who worked outside the United Center to ensure a calm and safe experience. A promising start to showcase the beauty of our city to 50,000+ guests from all around the world and start the final 78 days to the Presidential election.
