On Friday this week I will be joining the Private Equity Insights Nordics Summit 🌎 I will be chairing a panel discussion on “Delivering Value through Operational Excellence in Private Equity” with: - Per Nordlander from Verdane - Wessel Ploegmakers from Main Capital Partners - Carl Kistenmacher from Mutares SE & Co. KGaA All these funds have strong hands-on strategies and approaches to operational work in portfolio companies, and make significant contributions to increase value in relatively short timeframes. I am now convinced that five years is the appropriate amount of time for staying in an African technology company if you are an early stage investor or angel investor. Anything beyond 5 years and exit becomes a very difficult and arduous process. If the company doesn’t make it to a plausible exit by year 5 you should write it down. Take the exit opportunities you see between years 3-5 very seriously and only leave behind what you can let ride. Remember the metric that defines your fund is DPI not IRR or MOIC.

A second foreign issuer IPO scheduled for next week is Alta Global Group Limited (MMA), which expects to raise $6 million in an initial public offering on Wednesday, March 27th, IPO (per, Scoop reports). The company will be issuing 1,300,000 shares at $4.00-$6.00 per share (the original filing was for $10M, so this is a decrease of about $4M). In the last 12 months, Alta Global Group Limited generated $1 million in revenue and had a net loss of $13.9 million. The company has a market cap of $51.1 million.
