The ALTTO and NeoALTTO trials – together involving more than 8,000 patients and establishing a huge prospective collection of biological materials for translational research – are a testimony to the strength and richness in terms of scientific expertise, creativity, and flexibility of BIG’s network of research groups to conduct complex international clinical studies. I’m happy to share that our induced Allogenic Cell Tolerance (iACT) project has been published in Nature Biomedical Engineering. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and expertise of the shared first authors, Kristina Vintersten-Nagy, Huijuan Yang, Jeff Harding and all other co-authors. Their efforts, combined with the earlier developed FailSafe technology (PMID: 30429614), provide a promising pathway towards creating a cell source for off-the-shelf available, safe, immune-cloaked and universal therapeutic cells. Such could serve all humans suffering from diseases where cell therapy is an option without the need for immune suppression.The article is open access and available at: <https://lnkd.in/dJpzXdHJ>
