He came to the UK from Uzbekistan when he was just 17, and claimed asylum not long after. We are happy to say that he now has his refugee status, and can start moving on with his life! The 2023 Pride Run raised £8500 for Micro Rainbow! On Saturday 6th July, Micro Rainbow Communications Manager Rosalind Duignan-Pearson met with Pride Run Race Director Dominic Addison to hand over the cheque alongside some of the London Frontrunners. Taking place every September since 2003, the Pride Run is a not-for-profit 10km run through east London’s Victoria Park. Every year it raises money for LGBTQI causes, and the Pride Run has chosen to partner with Micro Rainbow again in 2024, which is the 21st year of the Pride Run. Some heartwarming news to end the week - Talah and Bayan, a #lesbian couple from Saudi Arabia, have just moved into one of our safe houses for #LGBTQI people fleeing persecution. Same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Saudi Arabia, and LGBTQI people are subject to arrest, and those arrested are at risk of execution from Saudi authorities. Bayan and Talah were not safe in Saudi Arabia, but now in the UK, they can start to live more openly as a couple. They can also attend Micro Rainbow events and activities, and find new networks of friendship and support in the UK.
