Mid-South Engineering proudly offers arc flash studies to help companies ensure their staff are well-protected and well-cared for. Mitigation focuses on lowering the actual hazard instead of taking steps to reduce risks. Arc flash mitigation efforts work to reduce the incident energy of the conductor rather than relying solely on strategies such as PPE, hazard labels, or safety training. Talk to a Mid-South Engineering representative today to learn more about arc flash hazard analysis. https://lnkd.in/gCenTWCJ

I'm excited to share that I recently completed the ATEX Training Course (Course 390), which focused on working in hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres might be present. The course provided a comprehensive understanding of the dangers associated with dust, gas, vapour, and mist in the air, and how to mitigate these risks in various industrial settings. A big thank you to my company, Consolite Technology, for paying for and organizing this important training. The course was full of practical examples that really helped me understand the material. One example that really impressed me was seeing how a small scratch on a surface can affect the sealing and explosion protection of equipment – it was a real eye-opener! I also want to thank Technical Training Solutions for providing this excellent course, and our instructor, Mr. Garry Evans, for sharing his deep technical knowledge. Seeing real examples of Hazardous Area markings was particularly helpful. This course helped me organize my knowledge about: - Hazardous area classifications (Zones 0, 1, 2, and 20, 21, 22) - Equipment Groups, Gas/Dust Groups, and Temperature Classes - Different protection methods like Ex ia, Ex ib, Ex d, Ex p, Ex e, Ex m, etc. - Understanding ATEX symbols, rating plates, and properly assembling cable glands and enclosure seals. Next, I want to learn more about IEC/EN standards and protection methods. If anyone has suggestions for resources or further training in these areas, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks again to everyone involved, and I’m looking forward to using this knowledge in my work! #ATEX #HazardousAreas #SafetyTraining #ExplosiveAtmospheres #Learning #TechnicalTraining

Hierarchy of Controls Safety. There are multiple safeguards to control any single hazard. Each level of these safeguards serves to protect employees. Some safeguards or controls are more effective than others. The hierarchy of controls outlines the controls used to mitigate a hazard from most effective to least effective. The hierarchy can have additional or fewer levels of controls listed depending on the reference you are looking at. The hierarchy we will discuss is listed as elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE in our example.

Controls need to be THE top priority when you do an equipment refurb!!! The majority of safety engineering and equipment protection comes from the control system. 405 Automation will help you prevent costly equipment failures, downtime and even potential catastrophes that could end in injuries or death. Its sounds serious because it is! (405)205-1114

🔩 Take Care With Compressed Air: Essential Safety Meeting Kit 🔩 Compressed air is a critical tool on construction sites and production lines, but it comes with significant risks if not handled properly. This meeting kit will help you understand the dangers and how to mitigate them. What's at Stake: 🚧 Compressed air assists in various tasks, from removing to installing refractories, but without proper safety measures and training, it can cause severe injuries. The Dangers Include: 🧯 Projected Particles: Dust, oil, and other substances can cause eye, ear, or face injuries. ⚠️ Whipping Hose: Sudden release of air can turn hoses into dangerous whips. 💥 Air Contact: Direct contact can cut skin or cause serious internal injuries. 🔧 Tool Failure: Poor maintenance can lead to tool explosions. 🔊 Noise Exposure: High noise levels can cause hearing damage. 🌫️ Chemical Risks: Dispersed particles and oil mists can create hazardous environments. Best Safety Guidelines: 🛠️ Regular Equipment Inspections: Ensure all equipment is in good working condition. 📚 Proper Training: Only trained and competent employees should operate compressed air machines. 🪛 Hose Management: Keep hoses free of cracks, damage, and away from grease and oil. 🔗 Secure Connections: Prevent accidental disconnections and hose whipping. 🥽 Proper PPE: Always wear eye and hearing protection. 3moArc Flash Studies are particularly important to provide information about incident energy of components related to safety while conducting maintenance. See NFPA 70E. You should conduct at a minimum interval of every 5 years or sooner when you plan any major upgrades. If this excites you, best guy to talk to about this is James M. (Marty) Atwater, PE. If you need his number send me a note.
