In my world, every day is food safety day, however, when we dedicate a day to acknowledge food safety we are able to bring awareness to the topic and educate. This years theme "prepare for the unexpected" is a perfect way to describe how food safety professionals need to think when creating programs to reduce food safety risk. Typically, food safety professionals are considered "overthinkers", but this is actually a necessary skill to have when assessing risk. By thinking of every potentially hazardous scenario, we are able to plan how to mitigate risks to food safety. We can also use that same problem solving mindset to prepare and react to the unexpected.

I’am working on a presentation regarding training and read an article about training status in det food industry (survey). The results worried me. 👉Interestingly, over 1/3 respondents think that their training has no impact on staff retention… 👉1/10 thinking that it actually has a negative impact…. 👉only 2/3 respondents think that their training programme has a positive impact on productivity 👉1/5 do not see any positive return on investment from their training programme.. 👉Furthermore, more than 1/ 5 do not have any clear vision for improving their training programme next year…. AND this haven’t changed in the last 10 years… When I read this it doesn’t surpise me that 👉75 % agreed or strongly agreed on the statement «Despite our training efforts we still have employees not following established protocols on the floor”….. My analysis: Businesses clearly don’t belive in training and therefor don’t invest enough in it to make it stick, to make it effective. It is all about changing behaviour. That journey start with increasing knowledge..but it doesn’t end there. it require management, planning, engagement, commitment, measurment, follow up, consequences…it is a management and team effort. But still-it starts with knowledge and the team needs to be on the same page. Aquatiq can hjelp you with that. We can also hjelp you with your journey on making food safety and food safety training stick. It is all about food safety culture.

In this publication, I elucidated that the development of the mainstream food safety stream is shifting towards a preventive approach with the validation of food safety plans at the forefront.
