It’s all about people, always, even in B2B. Amorphous corporations don’t deal with other corporations, people connect with people. Someone recently asked me about my favourite part of Freshworks. It is the people. The spark and energy of the people here at all levels, across all functions, with an underlying desire to do the right thing is remarkable and is like no other place I’ve worked in my decades in tech. It inspires me every day when I get to be with our team worldwide. I love that even as an introvert, I feel more energized at the end of a day, having spent it with the team. I will always solve for the people for the rest of my career. Of course, the opportunity to deliver impact and learn has to be there, but impact and learning are tied to the people. #culture #connection

Building customer love is a bar I seek to hit. The kind that creates raving fans. There are programmatic elements that serve as table stakes for delighting customers. Beyond meeting expectations, the real difference between good and extraordinary is the gestures that create connection. They are the surprise and delight moments. Thank you, Gerben Tegenbosch, an awesome Freshworks customer, for creating a delightful moment for our family by sending an Optimum Nutrition care package of some of our favourites. I have learned a lot in my 22+ years as a parent. I figured I’d learn from the experience, but I hadn’t anticipated that they’d grow up and I’d learn something from them. We go from keeping these humans alive when they let you take them home to navigating all the stages of childhood - lost teeth, not making the team, curfews, and picking colleges. It has been a non-stop adventure of trial and error. What is funny is their reflection now as adults: “You really didn’t know what you were doing when we grew up, did you?” We did our best. As my first baby graduates from Uni, I am reflecting on how much I now learn from him by how he navigates his world: Set your own bar and exceed your own expectations—For areas that matter most, like school, adventure, and athletics, Jack is driven to do an outstanding job based on his standards, even if doing less than this would be sufficient. Work hard and play harder—Jack manages to find the personal moments that matter, is up for most adventures and makes them happen - like hiking a mountain with friends, attending a gathering, spending time with us when we are in town, and driving 5 hours to see live music. He’ll work on the car ride to an adventure; he might go a bit late to an event, but he makes adventure happen throughout. Take only what you need—As a minimalist, Jack believes in only consuming what he needs and spending time and money on things he loves. I find the things he says no to amazing because he doesn’t need them, even if they are free to him. Be where you are—Jack turns his notifications off when working on a project and puts his phone away when he’s out with friends or family. This enables him to be fully in the moment. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings. Thank you for the reminders, Jack! Congratulations on your accomplishments so far. xo Mom.
