Around 2017, I started investing in early stage companies through this new - to me at least - thing called “syndicates” like Forefront Venture Partners and LAUNCH led by Phil Nadel and Jason Calacanis. It seemed to me like a great way to follow proven leaders like these guys to leverage their experience, network, and due diligence capabilities to make modest investments in entrepreneurs without me needing to commit big money to a fund or, worse, take on the responsibility of making big investments of my own in companies / technologies that I may not fully understand. I was talking to my friend, Sequoya Borgman, about what I was doing and I said “you should do something like this - create a syndicate of sorts - for investing in later stage / proven companies - like private equity would. Well….he’s done it and I’m very excited about it!
