Why It Matters:

👶👧🧒 The Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support and resources to children and families who have experienced trauma or abuse. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups. Inspire their imaginations and provide an escape into the world of storytelling. 3️⃣ Clothing and Accessories: Children and teens often need new clothes due to growth or changes in their circumstances. You can contribute by donating new clothing, shoes, and accessories. 4️⃣ School Supplies: Help them succeed academically by providing new school supplies, backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essentials. 5️⃣ Personal Care Items: Support their well-being by donating new toiletries, hygiene products, and personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. 💙💚 Your generous donations will make a significant difference in the lives of these children and families , showing them that they are valued and cared for by their community. Central Bucks MobilePack Let’s do a quick walk down memory lane: 1. Central Bucks MobilePack had its beginnings in 2013. 2. Since 2013, we have packed 6,563,160 meals! 3. Since 2013, we’ve appreciated the support of 23,515 community volunteers! 3. Since 2013, we’ve raised approximately $1,663,290! Our community pays for the meals so the efforts of frontline NGO’s and missions, doing the hard work in the field, don’t incur that financial burden. 4. THE BIG AND BEST NUMBER: 17,981 kids have gotten a hot meal/day for an entire year! The need remains staggering and sadly steady. 6,200 kids die every day from starvation and malnutrition. EVERY DAY! Our effort makes a difference and provides HOPE for people all over the world. The food we’ve packed over the last 10 years has gone to 23 countries on 4 continents to people in their most desperate hour. And it’s all possible because you've cared enough to offer two hours of your time, have some fun and pack some meals. We hope you’ll join us again May 16-20 at beautiful Delaware Valley University in Doylestown. Registration to volunteer opens in early April. Last week, my family spent a couple of days up north helping my husband, Don Riedthaler and the Ignite Northwest team, in their company’s test kitchen make and package meals for hungry kids. Between Don and I having worked decades in the restaurant industry, owning a restaurant of our own and having Don (aka Dad) as the primary cook at home, we have an abundance of food surrounding us, especially around the holidays. It felt so good (thanks to the powerful happiness hormone, oxytocin) to spent time in service to others. In the process, I noticed 3 benefits that parallel the neuroscience research in this article written by Brian de Lottinville  https://lnkd.in/ggG4wUY3   1.    Synergy 2.    Cooperation 3.    Connectedness   More benefits observed:   1.    Empathy 2.    Laughter and play 3.    Conversation 4.    Future strategic planning and decision making   It’s no wonder companies invest in team building where bonds can be formed. Though, upon reflection, the experience of helping others (for me) trumped some of the more prescriptive team building activities I’ve witnessed or participated in (karaoke bars, and escape rooms come to mind). There is still time to get involved with our Acheson Christmas Hamper Drive. Until the big collection day on December 6th at Western Star Trucks (North) Ltd we will be conveying more about the need for donations this year. Today we are sharing information about the Parkland Food Bank Society as we are asking businesses to collect non-perishable food items for this year's Christmas Hamper program. Did you know that 40% of individuals served are children and that 33% are single parents? The Parkland Food Bank provides food for 2400 individuals a month! Did you also know that for the first time, there has been a significant increase in food bank clients who reported employment as their main source of income? Every donation, no matter the amount can make an impact. Is going secondhand a good thing when you can afford to buy new? I like the idea of letting my kids know that being able to spend money on new thing doesn’t mean you have to buy things that are new. And getting them secondhand uniforms and giving theirs away may, so far, be the best way to get them used to the idea of keeping clothes in circulation longer. The best thing in alm this is that they’ve never complained about wearing them. PS: They do complain about other stuffs.
