Building better maternity care for all

Thank you to Shalene Gupta at Fast Company for this thoughtful feature on the rise of midwifery-led care in the US. This is no surprise given: (1) The US has a massive OB-GYN shortage making 36% of counties 'maternity care deserts', (2) a rapidly worsening maternal health crisis, and (3) midwives being the ideal care provider in terms of outcomes for 70% of all pregnancies that are low risk. In fact midwives are the frontline maternity care providers around the world in countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, France, etc. -- all of whom have lower costs and better outcomes than the US does. Millie is grateful to be part of the solution alongside other innovators in the space, and a big shout out my Co-founder & Clinical Director Talia Borgo CNM, WHNP, RN and the exceptional team of midwives at Millie who are making change happen everyday. cc: TMV BBG Ventures, Ingeborg Investments, RH Capital, Soraya Darabi, Emma Silverman, Nisha Dua, Claire Biernacki, Anna Mason, Alice Zheng, Stasia Obremskey, Elizabeth Bailey, SolComms, Sarah Reynolds, Talia Borgo CNM, WHNP, RN, Amy Kane, Kimmie Carey, Terese Tatum, tristan walker Looking Glass Capital, Adam Besvinick, Turner Novak, venn growth partners, Jenna Jung #maternalhealth #womenshealth #funding #femalefounders #femtech
