📅 Just concluded an engaging two days at the Insurance Data Science Conference hosted by Stockholm University's Department of Mathematics. This year's conference attracted over 170 participants from more than 20 countries across five continents, encouraging a global exchange on the fusion of data science and the insurance sector. François HU presented a leading-edge research titled "Ensuring Algorithmic Fairness in Insurance Pricing: A Multi-Class Problem Perspective." This study, recognized in the Journal of Machine Learning Research (JMLR) in 2024, tackles the significant challenge of bias in AI systems within insurance pricing and introduces a new approach for maintaining fairness in predictive modeling. Yousra Cherkaoui shared insights from the study on "Cyber Risk Modeling Using a Two-Phase Hawkes Process with External Excitation," which confronts the growing issue of cyber risk in our increasingly digital economy. The model proposes a novel method for quantifying contagion effects in cyber risk, providing strategies for reducing the impact of cyber threats on insurance portfolios. Thank you to all the speakers, participants, and organizers for making the conference a success. #InsuranceDataScience #AlgorithmicFairness #CyberRiskModeling #StockholmUniversity
