Local Law 126 requires all of NYC’s parking structures to be inspected by 2027, with follow-up assessments every six years. The DOB recently mandated that all parking structures in sub-cycles 1B & 1C complete a one-time initial observation by August 1, 2024. A Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI) must conduct these observations, and a form must be filed with the DOB by the deadline. Zimmerman Architects & Engineers, D.P.C. have to say as Bryan Chester, PE, QPSI, provides detailed insights on these requirements and their implications for property owners. https://hubs.ly/Q02GhddJ0

Interesting to see the results of this study and how it might change the "streetscape" of buildings in regards to "Local Law 11" and their implementation of sidewalk sheds. -OD
Big news for façade inspections ✅ DOB has just launched a new comprehensive study of Local Law 11, the city’s Façade Inspection & Safety Program, which will include recommendations for legislative changes to the city’s façade inspection program. This new study is a major component of the city’s #GetShedsDown plan, and recommendations that arise from the study will consider ways in which regulatory changes could potentially reduce sidewalk sheds in our city that are not helping to protect the public Thornton Tomasetti, an international engineering consulting firm headquartered in NYC, will conduct this study as an official city consultant. Section 52 of the Building Act 2004 A building consent lapses and is of no effect if the building work to which it relates does not commence within— (a) 12 months after the date of issue of the building consent or (b) any further period that the building consent authority may allow. It would be nice to track the date the building consent has been issued and note any reasons that may lead to the delay, as that would help with the extension. From my experience, the local authorities are considerate as long as we can justify the delay.
