Singapore’s labour market continued to expand in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting improved economic prospects for the year. Here are some of the highlights: ⬆ Total number of job vacancies increased ⬆ Total employment grew, contributed solely by resident employment 💼 Unemployment inched up slightly; however resident long-term unemployment rate remained low ⬇ Retrenchments continued on a downward trend; majority of retrenched workers were able to find a new job within six months 📢 More employers said they intend to hire in the next three months The Government and tripartite partners will continue to encourage and support employers and workers to press on with business transformation and upskilling to improve job quality.
