Yes. Yes. I have become slightly obsessed with the NFL post Taylor & Kelce (but I am not the only one). However, working in Indian Sport for the last 15 years (Yes, and do not age me!) has exposed me to the Business side of the NFL. Sports Newsletters and American Websites have provided more and a lot more insight about the NFL - and it has been a fascinating learning experience that has been so awe inspiring. I want to know more and I want to see more because they are doing it so so well. This is just one of the examples of what they are getting right - building a platform to give their athletes a future to look forward to with dignity and respect. The professional athlete brings a lot to the boardroom table! What else could you expect from a Human Being who chases one goal constantly for years! They have built themselves to be focused, disciplined and so so resilient and they would be the perfect team player! Spaces for this are so essential for the Indian Athlete as well and I wish we could find a way to give them more than a 'coaches' job, or the 'Railways posting'. So much to learn and so much to think about what we can do and should be doing. Sport is collaborative and competitive - which is why it makes it so easy to want to learn from each other. Talking about change is good. But action is better. We’re launching something special. Austin started The Gen Z Club to empower and inspire young people through networking events. I started DIVERSE. to get young people hired and build careers they can be proud of. We’re coming together to host an early careers fair introducing hundreds looking for internships, apprenticeships and grad schemes to employers. And sharing insights that will help shape their careers. This is exactly the type of event I’d wish I’d gone to. I’m a big believer in: If you want to see it. Create it. For talent teams wanting to meet and hire a diverse mix of ambitious young people join brands like Lloyds, Knight Frank, Capital One, Diageo and Warner Bros Discovery by attending, hosting an employer stand or joining a panel talk. Yesterday I took part in a careers fair at my kids school where I spent 90 minutes talking about my career in IT and answering questions from the children in year 5 & 6. The groups were split into 10 - 15 children at a time and by the 8th group I had my pitch down to a fine art. The most popular questions were: Q)What’s your favourite place to travel to with work? A)India I think and fortunately I’m back there in a couple of weeks! Q)Who’s your favourite F1 driver? A)Official answer = Lewis Hamilton but the Hexagon line is anyone driving for Red Bull Racing Q)What’s your favourite Greggs Pasty? A)Sausage and Bean melt no contest it’s the god tier bakery treat. Q)What do you earn? A)Enough to have a nice house, a nice car and the occasional nice holiday 😆 Some of my favourite questions though were: Why do you like working in IT? What do you do in a normal day and when did you decide what you wanted to do when you grew up? All great questions but the thing that really struck me was how eager the kids were to ask questions. There wasn’t one group where the questions didn’t flow and I was forced to fill the time (and people who know me well know how much I hate awkward silence and tend to babble to try and fill it). Refreshingly all kids engaged and asked questions and thankfully seemed interested in my reply! Gave me lots of hope for the future and made me think about how as a real life grown up I can learn from the engagement those kids showed in the sessions yesterday!

As we all take a moment to celebrate our achievements from the first quarter, I’m filled with a mix of fulfillment and anticipation. It’s heartwarming to see so many of us sharing our accomplishments, and I’m right there with you. From successfully defending my project to winning a software exhibition, starting an internship role with UNEE, co-organizing the BUCC career fair and contributing to the launch of the study stats application with GDSC Babcock, it’s been a quarter filled with milestones. Yet, amidst the celebrations, there’s a recurring thought in my mind—realizing that this is the second to the last month of my academic journey. With just about two weeks left at the university after this month, the question of ‘What’s next?’ is becoming more prominent. It’s a time of significant transitions, filled with decisions to be made and paths to be chosen. But let’s not dwell on the uncertainty of the future for too long. For now, I want to take this opportunity to celebrate the achievements we’ve all made. Let’s cherish these moments of success and use them as stepping stones for the challenges that lie ahead. Here’s to embracing the future with the same determination and resilience that brought us here.

National Careers Week is here! And we are kicking it off with an almighty bang! We are delighted to share how we are creating real life opportunities that are not only engaging, but also crucial in showing young people what they can achieve. Here’s a small glimpse into how we are kickstarting careers this week. Stay tuned as we share more stories in the coming days from our various teams! We are currently putting the final preparations on a huge Careers Fair for Cranford Community College, 210 Year 9 students who will have the opportunity to interact with 41 professionals from: Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Brunel University London, Royal Holloway, University of London, University of Winchester, West London College, Wates Group, VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd, Transport for London, GSK, West London NHS Trust, British Army, British Airways, Royal Air Force (RAF), COWI, Berkeley Group Plc, Kier Group, Haleon, Met Police Uk, Delta Capita, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Accenture, Hounslow Arts Centre and University of West London The day will also include a panel discussion and focus on pathways into employment. But wait there is more! We are also organising employer insight visits for 110 of the Year 10 students. These visits are with leading companies such as GSK, Novotel Hotels, Holiday Inn, Berkeley Group Plc, Framestore, and the Hill Group UK to offer an in-depth look at the world of work, directly at source to demystify the workplace and help them feel like they belong. This initiative wouldn't be possible without the collaboration and support of the participating organisations. So a big thank you to you!
