Sausages must be neat, and all lined up. That was always the scope. Cooking sausages was the easy part, but what I really loved was the sizzle. As a member of the Scouting Community for over 20 years, I lost count of how many sausage sizzle fundraisers my family and I did. What I remember is the importance of selling the sizzle. Creating energy and an atmosphere, was not just about gaining volunteers to cook sausages, but to gain customers to support our local Scout Group fundraising needs. It might have been signage, flyers to promote and create the activation or perhaps it was the simple messaging of our objectives that was essential for success. Being creative and designing the sizzle is not only rewarding but exhilarating… Building a team of like-minded people that want to think creatively and work around the clock to deliver on our promises is what will make us successful. Please remember this fundraiser is meant to be fun and silly and most of us are TERRIBLE artists. Any type of pet is fine. Photo submissions will not be accepted on Facebook or anywhere else except the submission form above. Please no people. If there are people in the photo that is fine, but will not be included in the drawing. Artwork will be created using different materials: pencil, crayons, digital, marker, etc. Part of the fun is not knowing what you will get. Be prepared for some bad artwork. Better quality photos are preferred, but with a large group of mostly awful artist, it might not make much of a difference. This is a purely digital fundraiser. Once your "artwork' is completed we will email you the completed works.

December 15th: National Regifting Day 🎁 National Regifting Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of December of every year. This year, it takes place on December 15. It aims to encourage the practice of re-gifting across the United States. Re-gifting refers to the act of taking a gift and giving it to someone else, often under the guise of a new gift. National Re-Gifting Day originally started off as an office holiday during the holiday season wherein co-workers would often re-gift gifts that they received and don’t really want. Re-gifting, barring a few conditions, can be a very efficient way of repurposing unused items. #toyotatogether #nationalholidaycountdown

A colleague and I discuss how people today seem more tired and edgy. He commented that many of us are dealing with stress from all sides: job, political, financial, work, family, etc. Some days, I become quite overwhelmed -- with my negative thoughts pinging around out of control. When I feel this way, I tell myself I can't change what's going on, but I can change how I react, as well as the choices I make. (I also head out for a bike ride, which always clears my head.) One of my choices, which I post about frequently, is buying US made items whenever possible. The second choice is supporting causes I care about, one of which is the Essex Greenbelt's Osprey program. Each year I donate $100 toward it -- which may not seem like a lot, but it is. (I've been in fundraising and know any amount is always gratefully received.) Greenbelt, a non-profit land trust, conserves land in MA. I'm thrilled to learn a local woman in Haverhill (town next to mine) has donated two parcels of land totaling 90+ acres. I ride my bike past both a couple times a week and noticed the new Greenbelt sign last week. Hurrah! The parcels are adjacent to two small working farms, so it's wonderful this entire area will remain intact. At SureCall Contact Centers, we pride ourselves on giving back to our community. Recently, our team assisted Hull Services by painting picnic tables, removing old paint, and trimming bushes. We learned that annual painting is necessary due to wear from children and sun exposure, and that the maintenance team is busy with multiple properties, often relying on volunteers. The experience was rewarding, especially learning about support programs for individuals away from home.
