Congress is taking action to stop the full -3.4% Medicare cut to physical and occupational therapy providers finalized for 2024. While we have asked you to act on other Medicare legislation – and thousands of you acted – this new bill goes even further to protect Medicare funding for our practices and has the full support of APTQI. Reps. Greg Murphy (R-NC), Danny Davis (D-IL), Brad Wenstrup R-OH), Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Larry Bucshon (R-IN), and Michael Burgess (R-TX) recently introduced the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act of 2023 (H.R.6683), which would stop the cuts slated to go into effect on January 1.  While this is an important first step for protecting seniors’ access to physical therapy, we need Congress to pass this legislation before the end of the year. 🤔 Hoist sling advice: "I am an OT working in the acute setting. We complete hoist assessments with patients on the inpatient wards using the deluxe hammock slings from Care Ability (used by our equipment company), with the Arjo midi mobile hoist. Previously the hospital offered the service of washing the slings so we could use them again... they can no longer provide this service. I am looking to see if there are any disposable slings which are an exact match to the Care Ability slings, so that we can accurately measure and risk assess the patient for the correct sling to be prescribed for using in the community." - Liz #OccupationalTherapy #ManualHandling
