At the APHL 2024 Annual Conference last week, Sarah Brumley, MHA, Client Success Manager, Director of Federal & Government Accounts, showcased our collaboration with APHL - Association of Public Health Laboratories. 👉🏼 Our poster highlighted how APHL successfully modernized the Public Health Lab Result (PLR) code system from concepts created and maintained via spreadsheet to a collaborative single source of truth managed in the Symedical terminology management environment. This involved converting to a SNOMED extension, establishing data governance for the authoring, and automating ongoing reconciliation, submission, and publishing of PLR concepts. Symedical enabled APHL to reconcile duplicate concepts, establish a federated authoring environment, and streamline the terminology management lifecycle. #APHL #APHL2024 #PublicHealth

The Colorado Gerontological Society would like to thank Senator Michael Bennet for his work in moving the The Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act forward. There is a similar bill in the House. The bill would: -Establish a coverage pathway under Medicare for certain Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved #MCED tests, which can screen for dozens of cancer types, many of which currently lack an effective screening option; -Authorize the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide Medicare coverage for FDA-approved MCED screening tests, enabling beneficiaries to access these technologies, which currently lack a viable coverage pathway under the program; -Maintain CMS authority to use an evidence-based process to determine coverage parameters for these new tests; and -State that new diagnostic technologies will supplement, not replace, existing screenings and will not impact existing coverage and cost-sharing Read the Bill text here: https://lnkd.in/gW4TgFgV #MCED #Grail #Galleri

Elissa will outline her kinematic research that identified three main methods, with different methods used across three stages (i.e., initiation, weight transfer, transition to stand) that older adults use to get up from the floor. Finally, Elissa will outline practical considerations of therapeutic/exercise interventions targeting capacity to independently get up from the floor.

The CAPES Signature Project tests the effectiveness of @JasprHealth, a patient-facing tablet-based application, in the Emergency Department (ED). A chat bot guide patients through a suicide risk assessment, a safety plan, and lethal means counseling all while waiting for care. Jaspr also provides access to a menu of skills videos to manage distress, and a library of racially and culturally diverse, inspirational videos of people with suicide-centered lived experience. After leaving the ED, the patient can access their safety plan, skills videos, and shared stories on the Jaspr at home app. First, we are testing if Jaspr improves suicide outcomes under ideal conditions by comparing patients who receive routine ED care (n=335) to those who receive routine ED care plus Jaspr (n=335) when given by research staff at UMass Memorial. Then, we’ll test how well Jaspr improves outcomes when given as part of routine clinical care at four EDs in Colorado and Ohio (N=28,000).
