How do we measure progress? How should we measure regional development? Would this change our approach to regional development? The Australian Government is embarking on ‘Measuring What Matters’, paving a new way for Australia … this is already well-progressed in other parts of the world. Great to be learning more from Geoff Woolcock at the SEGRA: Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia National Regional and Economic Development Summit 2023 on how we might develop better societal indicators and approaches to development. https://lnkd.in/gfTQZRJW

Critical to overcome challenges regarding how we develop our #EU engagement, collaborate, partner for #Research & #Development #Grant #programmes with academia and businesses. Keeping focus on shaping & informing #policy in support of #Scotland’s #economic #development ambitions with changing favourable #Horizon #Association landscape would be critical. Critical Issues of the 15-minute City I'm glad our efforts towards social justice and the 15-minute City are gaining momentum. How might we ensure that the 15-minute City promotes a just urban mobility transition where nobody is left behind? I co-authored the position paper on this topic with Pia Laborgne (Karlsruhe Transformation Center for Sustainability and Cultural Change) and Ricardo Pinto de Sousa (Portugal Directorate of Regional Development). The paper also includes many other interesting critical perspectives and insights from international scholars and practitioners. In 2018, Ed Morrison and I were asked to present at the University Economic Development Association (UEDA) Annual Conference in Anchorage, Alaska. The previous year we had been working to better understand entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems - What are they? How do they form? Can we really "design" them? We discovered that merely "talking" about them fell short. We needed a better "visual" language. This document, and the images it contains, was one of our early attempts. I go back to this document time and time again as I work with leaders in discussions about how ecosystems form and function. As for whether or not we can "design" them? I've got good news and bad news on that front. First the bad news: We CAN'T design them. They are emergent. But, here's the good news: We CAN design the PLATFORM upon which new ecosystems can form. I've used the images in this document countless times to help leaders as they attempt to shift their thinking to an ecosystem-centric view of how value is created. I thought you might find this document of interest too. If so, you can grab it for free at the link below. #ecosystem #platform #platforms #platformstrategy #platformeconomy #innovationecosystem #innovationecosystems #entrepreneurialecosystem #ecosystembuilding
