A hiring manager I talked to late yesterday afternoon was stressed! She is under pressure to fill 3 remaining MSL roles on her team BUT she also has a POA in early February and a Virtual Advisory Board in two weeks. If you are a hiring manager in January 2024, you can probably relate to her. Hello LinkedIn Fam! 👋 Excited to dive deeper into "The Pipeline Way" series, where we unravel the intricacies and share some behind-the-scenes magic around the way we work here at Pipeline Consulting! We often get this question from candidates we speak with, so we wanted to explain... There are many times where we have between 100-150 roles we are working on simultaneously, many of which are in the same department/discipline. We can’t, in good conscience, ask someone to think about, much less interview with 10 or more companies at one time. We’ve found that most people we talk with have a demanding career, frequently putting in 50 or more hours a week. To then ask them to consider or have discussions with that many companies doesn’t make a whole lot of sense – especially because we have already evaluated their priorities and what they would be looking for in next steps of their career during in-depth conversations. We just placed a Med-Tech Sr Director of Regulatory Affairs & Quality who never should have gotten the job. He never should have gotten the job because he probably wouldn't have ever KNOWN about the job in the first place. He had been working for years in a smaller organization, head down, doing a great job. Enjoyed the small-company environment. Yet, silently he was getting bored. Tired of not growing forward vs same ole day to day When he got the "tap on the shoulder" aka the call from our team He was met with a conversation that surprised him. It was about his aspirations, his goals. Not the "sale of a job" to a stranger. As we uncovered what truly was important to him He realized it was time to saddle up & put himself in an uncomfortable spot.... Exploring new roles for the first time in quite some time. Turns out our recruiter, Penni Kittelson, had a local role that matched to the T what he aspired to ...and what the company needed was the candidate's direct experience By having a Headhunter involved in this scenario, I think there were 3 major value-adds: 1. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒 for two people to meet who otherwise wouldn't have 2. 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: Penni truly understood what this candidate aspired to which meant she could confidently recommend he explore this role & confidently explain to the client how to court him AND why they should bother to do so. 3. 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Meeting two party's needs for different reasons is not a small feat by any means. Yet, in this scenario Penni took: -The pain of a client & value proposition they had to offer and matched it with the talents of the candidate and his aspirations for more Happy client, happy candidate Nice work P!
