Looking for ways to empower your staff and boost staff morale while reaching safety targets? Check out the post below 👇
A big thank you to Air Products - Bardon for their wonderful donation of £1145! It was lovely to have Richard over to the hospice last week to say thank you and show him what this wonderful donation will go towards. Air Products run a fantastic Scheme which helps them reach safety targets and also empowers their staff to have a positive impact on their local community. The CHASE Scheme (CHArities and Safety Excellence) allows staff to raise money for their chosen charity through reaching safety targets at work. What an amazing way to fundraise! Through this scheme the Bardon team have raised over £6000 for us and we cannot thank them enough for their commitment to helping us continue to offer vital care and support to babies, children and young people with life limiting conditions across the East Midlands 🌈 Lynn Willacy Sandra Brathwaite

The Oval Partnership are once again taking part in the Samworth Charity Challenge on 18th May 2024 to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. It's an exhilarating & gruelling adventure race for teams of four, where you are required to plan and navigate your way around the course in order to collect points. The event is held every 2 years and will see our team pushed to the limits on a triathalon course which includes Mountain, Canoe & Cycle stages with all being approximately 3 hours duration and will be held near Ambleside in the Lake District. That sounds easy right? Wrong! this isn't a walk in the park. There are 2 difficulties to choose from, Tough and Elite and we know from past experience they are not for the faint hearted. But the charity that we support makes this challenge worthwhile. Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice help children with end of life care and provide bereavement support to their families through what is such a challenging period to make what time they have left special. Please follow this link to donate: https://lnkd.in/egw6pGYv Every donation will help them no matter how big or small. Thank you so much for your donations from all of us at The Oval Partnership 😊. 🌟 Advocating for Change: Addressing the Hospice Funding Crisis 🌟 Recently, BBC News North West shed light on the critical hospice funding crisis, underscoring the urgent need for collective action. As our nation grapples with this challenge, it becomes evident that the focus must shift towards innovative solutions and community-driven initiatives to bridge the financial gaps. Wigan & Leigh Hospice insightful post, gives us just one example of the sizable percentage of everyday costs which now are even more reliant on community fundraising initiatives to continue providing these essential care services across the nation. In the wake of this pressing issue, Rosterfy’s latest white paper, 'How Volunteer Managers and Fundraising Teams can work together to meet fundraising targets' provides a roadmap for collaboration that could be instrumental in overcoming the funding shortfall. Now, more than ever, the spotlight is on community fundraising as a powerful tool to achieve the necessary funds for hospice support on a national scale. The strength of our communities lies in unity, and by coming together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Let's approach this challenge with empathy and sensitivity, recognizing that every contribution, big or small, plays a vital role in securing the necessary aid for hospices across the country. By embracing these insights, we can empower volunteer managers and fundraising teams to work seamlessly, amplifying our impact and ensuring that hospices receive the funding they desperately require. Together, let's turn our thoughts into action, fostering a culture of giving and support. Share your ideas, engage with local initiatives, and let's create a wave of change that uplifts the hospice community nationwide. 🌈🤝 #HospiceSupport #CommunityFundraising #RosterfyInAction #TogetherWeCan https://lnkd.in/e9zfKiit
On Wednesday, Annabel Tiffin discussed the wider hospice funding crisis on BBC News North West Tonight. For anyone who is not aware, like other hospices, Wigan & Leigh Hospice is a charity and only one third of our costs are funded, the rest we must raise through community fundraising, our shops and regular giving. It currently costs £18,500 a day to run the hospice and £12,000 of that must be raised with support from our local community. Please watch the full piece below 🎥

"External charitable initiatives...don't do anything for your own employees" Wrong. Cynical & WRONG. Internally, it does more than you think... It sets an example, from the very top, which trickles down to every single one of your employees, of - HOW . WE . DO . BUSINESS It demonstrates with action & tangible evidence, that your business is not JUST about growth & "winning" & doing whatever it takes to stay ahead of the numbers - cutting corners, taking advantage of people, manipulation, exploitation, evasion, massaging the figures. The list goes on... I firmly believe: there is room in business for a conscience & a decent amount of room at that. There's a concept of: every 10% of earnings, you give away to charity. I believe Ben & Jerry's adopted this for a while (and hopefully still do) - among others I believe. Why would a business, whose primary goal is revenue and profit growth, give 10% of its earnings away, just like that? That sounds like the worst CFO in the world?! So, why? Because those who understand the concept of love, know: The only way to get love...is to GIVE love. And when you figure that out, the rest is history. I'm personally, very proud in many ways to represent #Peninsula, and this is just another thing on the list. Be cynical...dismiss as virtue signalling - corporate patting on the back, if you will - see how far that gets you 🙄 #love > #hate The money-making business is ruthless. Winning is a ruthless pursuit #Mourinho If you can win in the right way - oh it's oh so much sweeter #SirMatt #SirAlex And, in the off chance you do happen to "lose", if you played the game in the "right" way - you can never really lose...you always win...you ONLY win...even when you "lose" 🙃 And for those who are STILL cynical about these initiatives...our group-wide charitable efforts are discussed (at the very least) once a month, in a newsletter from the SLT...they are housed neatly at the very top of our internal employee hub...and I'm sure are in even more places I haven't even learned of yet. This isn't just: ooh get some PR, look at us doing altruistic things and then forget and never actually do anything about it. No, these initiatives are inbuilt to Peninsula UK and I'm very much here for it 👏🏻 #JT said it best: what goes around, goes around, goes around...comes all the way...BACK around 😇 #peninsula #businesswithaconscience
We are delighted today to announce our new charity partnerships with DEBRA UK, Air Ambulances UK, and Together for Short Lives. Peninsula Group will raise a minimum of £1m for each of these charities over the next three years, for a total of £3m. CEO and Founder Peter Done says, “We are absolutely delighted to announce our new charity partnerships, and have chosen three wonderful charities to support. Following our successful partnership with Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, I wanted to find out what causes our employees hold close to their hearts. After reading through hundreds of nominations, there were three causes that clearly stood out, so we’re delighted to make this commitment to them today. Peninsula Group will raise £1m for each charity over the next three years, for a total minimum commitment of £3m. There is so much that we can do to help, and we’re excited about the difference we can make to each of our chosen charities over the next three years.” Find out more about these incredible charities and read the full press release at https://lnkd.in/gUYdYNju

Connecting charities and public sector organisations with their communities by improving communication | PR Strategy | Comms Campaigns | Stakeholder Engagement | Crisis Comms
Who should a newly registered charity follow/connect with on here? A grassroots organisation I have got to know well in recent years is now officially a charity. Gary and Simon, the founders of @PTSD999, both live with the condition, resulting from their police and military service. They know their work and audiences well but are less familiar with the wider sector. So, my charity people, who should they follow on here? Whose words of wisdom do you value on LinkedIn? Which organisations can they be inspired by? Are there sector groups they should join? I'll set the ball rolling with a recommendation to follow Charity Excellence - a FREE one-stop-shop for everything a non-profit needs. an organisation which does what it says on the tin. Do share your recommendations in the comments - this could become a helpful resource for all new charities...
We are extremely proud to share with you that our application has been approved by the UK Charities Commission. It has been a long hard journey but it has all been worth it. New opportunities and exciting times ahead. PTSD999 registered Charity 1207417..... Thank you all for your continued support. ❤️

Did you know air ambulance charities typically receive no day-to-day government funding. 🚁 Air ambulance crews can only continue to deliver lifesaving pre-hospital care across the UK thanks to generous charitable donations. ❤️ Each air ambulance relies on your support to enable them to save lives every day. Ordinary lives such as Claire, take a few minutes to watch Claire’s story below. Without your continued support, they would not be able to provide their lifesaving services to people who need them the most when time is of the essence. If the unthinkable happens they can be at the scene of an incident within minutes. Donating as little as £2 a month could help to fund vital resources that can be used on daily missions. #AirAmbulanceWeek #AAW2023 Watch Claire's story here: https://buff.ly/3so147L
