Exciting news in sustainable aviation! ✈️🌿 This summer, Europe is taking flight with its first electric international routes. From July 1 to August 31, 2024, the Electrifly project will connect airports in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany using the Pipistrel Velis Electro - the first electric aircraft certified by EASA. Key points: - Flights between Maastricht Aachen, Liège, and Aachen-Merzbrück airports - Journey times of 16-26 minutes - Bookings open to the public: €120 single, €160 return - One passenger per flight, no luggage (weight restrictions apply) This groundbreaking initiative aims to demonstrate the feasibility of zero-emission aviation and pave the way for integrating electric aircraft into European transportation networks. While currently limited in scope, this project marks a significant step towards sustainable air travel. It aligns with Europe's goals to reduce aviation's carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly transportation solutions. Taking Flight into the Future✨ Introducing the hybrid-electric 30-seat regional airliner, the ES-30.⚡ It was created by the Swedish company Heart Aerospace and has a variety of benefits over conventional fossil fuel-powered aircraft, such as: ✅ Zero emissions: CO2, NOX, and other pollutants are not released into the atmosphere by electric aircraft. They are therefore a more environmentally responsible and sustainable form of aviation travel. ✅ Lower operational costs: Because electricity is less expensive than jet fuel, electric aircraft should operate more affordably than conventional ones. ✅ Reduced noise: Compared to conventional aircraft, electric aircraft are substantially quieter, making them perfect for use in noise-sensitive locations. ✅ Electric airplanes require less maintenance due to the fact that they have fewer moving components than conventional aircraft. Heart Aerospace's ES-30 is one of the most promising electric aircraft under development. "Norway has focused on electric aviation for a long time, but Denmark could potentially be faster to implement it" 👀 ❕ I have this quote from one of the participants at the "Electric Aviation Conference", which was held at Copenhagen Airports A/S in collaboration with #NISA, #NEA and the EU project ALIGHT, in which Danish Technological Institute also participates. ✈ The overall picture from the 4 electric aircraft manufacturers who gave presentations on the day was that we will see electric aviation in Scandinavia within 2-6 years. But we do already have to work with charging infrastructure and design of aircraft stands as well as ensure the proper upgrading of, among other things, technicians and mechanics. 👩🔧 Super exciting conference and closing debate and from my chair a call for more action (work) so we soon can see (not hear) electric planes in the air above us. 😀 #sustainableaviation #aviation #electrification #edgeoftechnology #greentransition

At the Revolution.Aero conference in London, a panel of aviation entrepreneurs gathered to discuss the potential of electric and hybrid-electric aircraft in regional air travel. Moderated by Shashank Nigam ✈, CEO of SimpliFlying, the discussion showcased the sustainable, efficient, and customer-centric approaches pioneered by companies like FLIMAX Ltd, Odys Aviation, flyvbird - Smart flying, and ARC Aerosystems. Australia has the potential to become a lead adopter of aviation electrification technologies as a traditional user of small passenger aircraft, with the 3rd largest fleet in the world of regional air transport workhorses like the Cessna Caravan. It is ideally positioned to start introducing electric conversions first, upgrading its current fleet with all the associateds benefits in terms or zero emissions, reduced operating costs and quieter operations.
