Top Human Resource and Mentoring Voice| 33K+ followers|7 MILLION impressions in 1 year| Indian Army Veteran | Head of HR | MBA | Mentor | Talent Acquisition | Manpower & Staffing | Compliances | Training
107 medals were won by #India in recently concluded Asian Games. This impressive and best ever tally had 20 medallists from the #Indian #Army. The #culture of sports at all levels is the key factor contributing to this stupendous achievement. As a cadet I realised that the NDA would make us play every team #sport possible, in a span of 3 years, and make us achieve a certain level of proficiency. Those who excelled at individual sports were given adequate opportunity to display their skills too. When I was commissioned as an officer it was expected and natural, that officers play all troop games and lead from the front. The main aim was to foster #teamspirit and improve the #leadership skills of officers. Talent was identified in the process, and selected to participate at higher levels. Chosen few did reach the national level in respective discipline based on their capabilities and #excellence. The rarest cases got to represent India. The #defence services have created suitable ecosystem and infrastructure, to identify and train the #talent to such an extent, that today they form a sizeable chunk of the national team. Needless to say the system is robust and yielding results. Please remember that apart from 20 medal winners from Army there are the ones from #Navy and #Airforce too. Also there are the ones who particpated but did not manage a medal this time. I am sure they will come back with a bang in the next major event. Proud of these achievers. #military #veteran #veterans #sports #inspiration #motivation Military Veterans of LinkedIn https://lnkd.in/dMuaR8uq

Did you know that 39,176 American fans set a new world record for the largest number of Americans traveling internationally for a single sporting event last week? This Sporty Spice isn’t counted among that number because I journeyed to my ancestral homeland ☘️ to watch the US Naval Academy vs. Notre Dame varsity RUGBY match played at Trinity College Dublin, skipping the marquee football game. 💃 TBH, I attended the sold out 25th anniversary production of Riverdance -but that’s another post! 🏉 How did watching the rugby match get me thinking about teamwork? 1) Every match is a new opportunity for a team to assess what players should be on the field and what positions will best use players’ strengths for the collective effort. 2) Clear, kind, and respectful coaches inspire teams. And, it matters when leadership shows up. Tip of the 🎩 to the United States Secretary of the Navy who cheered gameplay and then took photos with the midshipmen. 3) Training and preparation matter. If a team does the work, then it shouldn’t matter where you drop them to play, they’ll be ready. 4) 🏆 High-performing teams don’t rest on their laurels. US Navy Rugby are the reigning national champions. Even though this was a pre-season match, their Captains were focused on creating momentum, gelling as a new 2023-2024 team and winning. 5) 👏 Celebrating accomplishments together shouldn’t be skipped. From taking a victory lap around the pitch soaking in the fan energy & majestic surroundings to raising a glass or two of beer, it’s always important to celebrate all the ways a team is succeeding. What fun to cheer (and cheers🍻) the team on their 78-0 victory!! 🚨 Proud Auntie bragging, my godson scored two of those tries! #teamwork #usnavy

Question: If we have enough talent in Australia for five teams why are our super rugby teams signing so many NZ and overseas players this year and still losing local talent to Japan, MLR, France, and the UK? They are all doing it and it doesn’t make sense if the argument is we have enough talent to sustain five competitive teams. Clearly we don’t if we are resorting to signing overseas players at the levels we are seeing across all the franchises. Combined across all teams we must now be close to a full 1st XV of overseas players.
