After nearly 10 years editing consumer-first personal finance content at NerdWallet, I’m looking for a new opportunity. Here are some entry level media roles across the sports, media and entertainment sectors.

If you're thinking about hiring an editor, here's our process for it. 1. Keep a running list of potential editors. We have our extended network plus a private network that many of our editors have come from. 2. When our existing editors (14 at this point) are all at 75% capacity, we begin recruiting a new one. This is so that if an editor leaves or takes time off, the system can handle the shock, plus we'll always have capacity which means I don't have to stop selling, ever. 3. We send them a test document with instructions for editing. We pay them for this. 4. They have a date it is due (this is very important for us). If they don't return it on time, they're not hired. 5. We have a culture call with them to make sure they're a good fit and expectations are set. Once we're ready for them, we sign a contract outlining everything (pay, pay schedules, work expectations). Then we start them on internal documents, then move them onto customer accounts. Our Lead Editors keep a closer eye on all of their first documents to give them feedback on their editing and the process. Hope this helps!
