Does having those most affected by a problem explain the problem, do anything to "bring attention" to the racial wealth gap?
For example, when a CFO watches this content, do they think, 'Let's get HR & DEI Rep on the phone to discuss how my team can contribute to a solution?'
I've learned from partnering with DEI business partners who often report to HR that they have the data to represent wage inequities- however, that's as far as the needle moves. To effectively address the racial wealth gap, DEI should be partnering with finance to aid in creating a wage gap commitment plan embedded into the financial strategy.
People are employed for financial reasons. If the intention of the campaign is to draw attention to the racial wealth gap, we should be hearing from those who actually make salary decisions about the concrete monetary steps they're taking to achieve equitable pay for marginalized communities and how pay equity aligns with the values of their company.

Happy International Women's Day! During Women's History Month and year-round, it's my honor to salute women making a difference nationwide.
Traveling nationally for my own woman-owned business, I see successful women first-hand. Intelligent, talented, hard-working women are setting goals and improving their communities.
Check out this article's list of women to know from each state in the U.S.
While challenges like the gender pay gap continue, we have much to celebrate!

Founding CEO Black Women’s Policy Center/Empowerment Life Coach/Community Engagement Consultant/Public Policy Advocate
Taraji P. Henson recently did an interview with Gayle King where she discussed the disparity in pay for Black women in Hollywood, https://lnkd.in/gRGUVzWi. Sadly, Black women experience pay inequity on all levels and it perpetuates a cycle of poverty for far too many of them. I did a segment on Talk Pittsburgh to continue highlight the issue for Black women right here in our region.
This is an issue that can be fixed if we pull our collective power and will, so I urge you to join the fight with the Black Women’s Policy Center, YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh and the Women and Girls Foundation on the Level Up Greater Pittsburgh Gender Pay Equity Campaign! www.levelup-pa.comhttps://lnkd.in/g9McK_2s

I saw an article today about people saying not to make the CoCo Gauff incident about race. To which I say, here we go again! Mentioning race is only about a card when white people don't want to talk about it! So, it is assumed that "we" who speak about IT will stop speaking about IT simply because you called, IT a card? 😂 First of all, are we who speak about race bringing in a card, NOPE! However, being that you who say this phrase, may feel that way let's use that standpoint! My response is, then those who are use this phrase need to stop bringing the deck into the room! The referee brought IT into the room! I nor anyone else, can pull a card out of a deck that is not in the room! Whiteness, race, categorizing people in the context of race etc. came from the supreme court, laws to benefit what the courts names as, "white people", and within society. Race was brought into the room by those who are white. Those of us who are Black, Brown, and Indigenous did not create race, racism, the so called "card" or the "deck". Race was created by those who are white. So, if you are white and too uncomfortable to sit down and talk about IT (racism) or to work to dismantle IT, then you really want IT (racism) in the room and while IT is in the room, the conversations regarding IT will remain! Love it when people say, IT, "the race card is getting old!" I say, you mean racism is getting old. So, dismantle IT (racism) and the inequity of power it produces, then we (who experience it) will not be able to talk about IT! So, while you desire to keep it on the table in the context of power and privilege then sit down and continue to play your game. Yes, I said, it, play! In reality is that racism is "playing" with hearts, souls, health, minds, bodies, emotions, and our lives. You want to make it a game, with a card, you call, Racism, then own the fact that you like playing It when it works for you and stop acting as if you do not! I still maintain that the conversations regarding race and racism are not about bringing in a card' into the room. Especially, if the deck is already in the room. If the card is in the room, please know that Black, Brown, Indigenous folks are not bringing it in there! You brought the deck in when you continue to perpetuate and minimize what racism is. The next time somebody says, don't bring the race card in the room, I am going to say, then tell me how you are dismantling it. I plan to continue to ask, what power and privilege are you willing to share to make that go away? I will reiterate, you brought racism in the room when you created a society around it (take this up with your ancestors not me). It (racism) was brought into the United States by those who are white, named as "whiteness and white" from the supreme court, laws, and in society. So, in card playing language, you wrote it so "DEAL" with it participating to dismantle it!"

What kind of a culture forces Black women to continuously work so hard to defend themselves just for the chance to be treated with equity & respect like we treat “white” women? A RACIST ONE.
📌EARLY PR Release Statement on Fearless Fund Lawsuit Outcome 📌
EARLY PR is disappointed in the federal appeals court’s recent decision to block the Fearless Fund from completing its mission of solving funding inequity for black and brown female founders. The decision is a deliberate attack on the progress of racial equity and justice and disregards the unique challenges Black women encounter in business. By blocking this grant, the court attempts to deny Black women equitable access to contribute to economic growth and innovation. Black women are the fastest-growing demographic of entrepreneurs. Yet, receive less than 1% of venture funding. Supporting Black women's businesses is an economic imperative that drives community development and job creation.
EARLY PR is proud to be one of the many who will continue to champion marginalized business owners committed to building an equitable society, not unlike ourselves. These values are reflected structurally in every aspect of our business. Each month, we highlight small businesses in our newsletter, continuously speak up about injustice across our social platforms and offer discounter consulting services to brown and black business owners. Not to mention, our entire scope of client work also reflects these values.
As a Black-woman-owned business, EARLY PR understands the struggle of racial and gender bias Black women experience and the difficulty of getting business recognition as a minority-owned business. Despite this setback for our shared communities, EARLY PR remains resolute. We will continue to advocate for equitable funding and recognition for all women, LGBTQ+, and marginalized business owners. Our commitment to justice and equity is unwavering and we will persist in amplifying the voices of the marginalized, ensuring their stories and successes are celebrated.
